Regards Re: reply 8Dec 29, 2008 7:18 pm PringlesMk2 I have never seen a different colour ceiling other than white, except for home theatres where all walls and the ceiling are paibnted a dark colour for the pure purpose of a cinema experience. I've seen plenty of houses that are not white ceilings. Actually I don't recall seeing any house recently that was actually just white on ceilings. It is normally variation like off white, or cream just lesser strengths to make them very light. reply 9Dec 29, 2008 8:00 pm Yes, thats what I meant. Not necessarily white, but the off whites and the beiges. We have Dulux Beige Royal 1/4, and thats a very light beige.
Of course most of the ceilings are not actually white white.. But what I am saying is that the Haymes Polar Bear colour would be too dark as opposed to the off whites and softer beiges.. Hope that helps! You may remember me as "pringles", on such websites as Homeone. Building Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle. At completion stage. We have square set cornices throughout and used 1/4 strength Hog Bristle on the walls and off white on the ceilings. Looks very very uniform and similar. A bit bland actually ... feature walls needed . Re: Square set cornices and paint colours 11Dec 29, 2008 9:08 pm Joles,
We have s/s plaster and we used Bristol Olivine throughout. It's not what you'd call a white colour although it's light. Do you find it brings your ceiling down at all? This is exactly the type pf pics I was after..... thanks. Seeing square set with something besides white has boosted my confidence! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Square set cornices and paint colours 13Dec 29, 2008 9:30 pm Yeah it is a light olive/creamy colour.
Most people comment on how high the ceilings are so I would have to say no... We elected to go all once colour right through to keep continuity. Re: Square set cornices and paint colours 14Dec 30, 2008 9:31 am I know you hate them, but there is a new M3tricon display in Belmore Rd, Balwyn which has square set cornices and several rooms have different wall/ceiling colours. Looks really nice, and worth a look at if this is what you are after. Re: Square set cornices and paint colours 15Dec 30, 2008 5:57 pm We have the square set thingummies in our entry....raised ceiling there. I'll see if I can hold the camera straight for a photo (had a couple of wines already - oops! ).
Paint is Wattyl ID - walls are Castilian and ceilings are Bone. Be back when I've eaten with the pic.... Re: Square set cornices and paint colours 18Dec 30, 2008 6:54 pm Thanks kek, our entry will have a very similar ceiling to that.
I'm thinking I'll go the same colour throughout. I just hope Polar Bear doesn't prove to be too dark. It's no darker than Olivine though that mattwalker used so hopefully it will be ok. Thanks for all replies. kek, just as a matter of interest, how high is your entry ceiling? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick No idea about the driveway question, but your price for a house that size including landscaping seems very good! 1 6653 Thank you so much. This has been very helpful.
