Dont get me wrong its great but scary. Thats how I have felt the whole time with ours. Fly by the seat of your pants building Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 445Aug 26, 2015 7:35 pm thanks livpal i will ask how much more for rendered did you do all the house or just front. how did you find gj overall. our land is not registered yet hoping for the 15th sept. i like your kitchen especially the stove Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 446Aug 26, 2015 8:08 pm Hi 1rocky as part of our development requirements we had to have 3 finishes to facade. For that reason we have a mixture of render, cladding and tiles. We have render to garage walls, and the other side of the front part of the house and a couple of other small walls around the house but it is mostly cladding. Tiles to front pop out bit. Unfortunately we didnt have an itemised invoice detailing render cost. There was an invoice with variations and and overall cost. Thno off the top of head it may have been 6000-8000k, does that sound right to anyone? We found the admin phase with gj was long, drawnout and frustrating but i think most builders admin is the same. Since then we have found them to be brilliant. Great communication, great quality and very quick build time up so far. So very happy with them so far. Good luck with the decision. Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 447Aug 27, 2015 6:43 am thank you Livpal. you have a lovely home. Covenants with our land is mainly to do with fencing no colorbond. but am looking into it further. Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 448Aug 28, 2015 8:38 pm Our plaster is complete and the render is complete. The chippy has been back putting in the skirting and fixing stuff. (Very technical) Our kitchen and cabinetry are in the process of being made. But devastatingly there are no photos. The photos are the only thing that gets me through the working week. So to say im devastated is an under statement. Yeah yeah it could be worse i know. Just impatient to see it all. Cant wait for my trip up next weekend. Then there will be photo overload Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 449Aug 28, 2015 9:47 pm Wow plastering done already! They smashed it out livpal Hahhaha Yeap that's as technical as I get too. Damn about the photos, happy days your back next weekend, bring your thongs it's gotten really warm over the last week yay Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 450Aug 28, 2015 9:57 pm Yay warmth. We had a couple of nice days down and started to get excited i even wore thongs but then winter hit again and our heater broke. It was freezing. Looking forward to some of that lovely sun again. Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 451Aug 28, 2015 10:02 pm Ohhh yuk that would be horrible with the cold again. . I was stupid the other day and went out with jeans and a long sleeve top on by the time I got home I had nearly melted and couldn't get my shorts on fast enough, it was 28 . What are you doing for window furnishing for your stacker doors? The big ones off your kitchen? I was thinking about you the other night when I was cutting our blinds down and wondered what you would do? Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 452Aug 28, 2015 10:10 pm Haha. We are just doing sheers as we will not be overlooked by anyone so we dont need blockout. The backfence is super high and the other doors look over the courtyard. So will stick with sheers for now and see how we go. Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 454Aug 29, 2015 3:16 am livpal5 Our plaster is complete and the render is complete. Then there will be photo overload Oh no why didn't you get any photos You're so fortunate to go again next weekend though - I'm a bit jealous We have to get skirting afterwards ourselves, it isn't something that is routinely added to houses in WA (or so I'm told!). I just think it protects the walls to an extent and looks more 'finished' somehow! Funny isn't it? You're getting skirting and I'm getting cornices hehe - I have to pay to get skirting, and you had to pay to lose cornices! Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 456Aug 29, 2015 8:36 am I can't remember you not being near your build livpal I know Tracey's building near you but living in NT (or WA - hubby got job there recently?) But you? Oh Melbourne comes to mind ... Are you moving in when house is built? I can't remember. Maybe I need to re-read your thread again geez it's hard to keep up with this forum Anyway, must be difficult and no wonder you are so dependant on photos. Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 457Aug 29, 2015 10:15 am Haha. I know it is hard to keep track of everyone. Yeah im in cold melbourne so hanging out to move up to the warm coast. We will move after xmas. Let the kids finish the school year and have last xmas with the family then we will head up. My hubby and i want to go up for a week and set everything up when the house is finished. That way when we drive up with the kids we wont have to worry about setting it all up. Well thats the plan. At least we want the beds set up. Haha. Yeah so u can det understand i NEED photos and im shattered. My hubby likes the surprise so he can wait till next week. Im not great with surprises as u can all tell. Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 459Aug 29, 2015 7:50 pm Coming along very fast Livpal5! Will you be in by Xmas? Mum gets her keys this week, which is very exciting. Just wondering has anyone put plantation shutters throughout their house? If so which company did you use? Re: Building with GJ northern nsw- Locked up 460Aug 29, 2015 7:50 pm At the rate your going Im giving you 8 weeks max till hand over, around the 24th of oct. To be honest I think it might be a little sooner. Ohhhhh bring on the table reveal looking forward to that one Hi, I am wondering if anyone has built with Montgomery in the last few years on the Northern Beaches? I don't see the see them around, as I would love to ask how happy… 0 3190 Ideally you would engage a landscaper to give you some insight what they may need in the space to make your vision come to life… 1 13637 I ended up going with 'Andrew Belic Construction Co.' https://www.instagram.com/andrewbelicconstruction/ 2 59659 |
