Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Stockland Elara at Marsden Park 1034Jul 27, 2015 8:58 am I was taking a look at the Elara design guidelines, and noticed they don't specifically address which brick colours you can choose/they'll allow, only that the design will need to be endorsed/approved by Stocklands.
I was having a drive around The Ponds on Sunday to get some colour ideas. My wife and I really liked the look of this house. http://i.imgbox.com/7fPSFTI9.jpg (sorry if this is your house. I blocked out street numbers etc) We are having a balcony to comply with the porch depth requirement set by Elara, so was specifically looking for styling of balcony against rest of house. I like what they've done with the different bricks for the balcony. Anyway, do you think Stockland would approved this? It's not quite as ultra-modern as other designs, which is good, as we aren't huge fans of the ultra modern look. Re: Stockland Elara at Marsden Park 1035Jul 27, 2015 9:59 am @steady_eddy91 Not exactly sure which kind of brick that is, but if you need to choose from PGH Bricks, I think you might find Gravel & Cement to come close to this? There are some balcony bricks that seem to have a slightly different colour in this picture (not sure if that's just the lighting) - they won't allow this, it needs to be uniform. We're building with Eden Brae and also like the look of (ultra)modern. PGH Cement got us really close to that without completely breaking the bank. Re: Stockland Elara at Marsden Park 1036Jul 27, 2015 10:14 am Cremorne35 but if you need to choose from PGH Bricks we're building with Elderton, and our choices are from Austral Bricks. Cremorne35 There are some balcony bricks that seem to have a slightly different colour in this picture (not sure if that's just the lighting) - they won't allow this, it needs to be uniform. Are you meaning we can't have a balcony brick colour that is different from the main facade brick colour, or are you saying the specific bricks used in this photo for the balcony might not comply as they are slightly two-toned? I am aware the bricks need to be solid colours and smooth, so I'd choose a brick as close to this that will comply with Elara's standards. I was more wanting to know if a brick colour that light would be accepted at Elara. Cremorne35 We're building with Eden Brae and also like the look of (ultra)modern. Oops you misunderstood. My bad! I just edited my initial post because I realised the wording was poor. I mean to say we're not a big fan of the ultra-modern look, we like more of a traditional vibe (as traditional as is possible in a new estate. Modern with a traditional touch). Re: Stockland Elara at Marsden Park 1037Jul 27, 2015 10:45 am steady_eddy91 we're building with Elderton, and our choices are from Austral Bricks. Oh I see, well forget the brick names then. No idea what Austral are offering. steady_eddy91 Are you meaning we can't have a balcony brick colour that is different from the main facade brick colour, or are you saying the specific bricks used in this photo for the balcony might not comply as they are slightly two-toned? You're definitely allowed to have different colours (eg we have a Moroka finish for the balcony that is different from the main house brick). But I'm not sure how two types of brick will be evaluated. Probably best to review the guidelines or give them a call? Note that in the end, you'll have to submit your external colours to Stockland and they will review the combination of colours used for brick/moroka/facade/garage door etc for suitability. Re: Stockland Elara at Marsden Park 1039Jul 27, 2015 6:36 pm Steady_eddy91, I have been doing my brick selection with Austral bricks as they have really good range of bricks. The bricks in your attached picture seems like Austral Whitsunday range - "Brampton" for the feature wall and main brick is closest to ultra smooth range "Rhythm" Re: Stockland Elara at Marsden Park 1040Jul 27, 2015 9:16 pm Guys, any ideas if the rear setback has to be definitly 4m as some builders are still not sure if this can be relaxed ,also what options do we have installing solar panels as they shouldn't be visible from the street |
