Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 19, 2015 8:19 pm Hi all Been around reading a lot (learning) Thought I share and get feedback We have sign with homestead 20/12/14 and still at council (13weeks) issues with set back they want 1.5m from both sides (16m frontage that leaves us 13m to build a large 4 bed home) We are in Broadview (in a character zone) 827m2 Working with the council the last sticking point is that We want to build on the boundary as our two neighbours has (& 7 people on our little bit of road has) But they don't, we've got a private planner fight it for us ( he's thinks it's stupid as well) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is my neighbour We are knocking down in August with no build time or council approval Now 90 days (contract signed) is up on the 17/8/2015 homestead said its not an issue! Please let me know your thought / comments Fellow homestead please share Thanks for reading lifetooshorttodrinkbadcoffee Re: Homestead homes South Australia 5Jul 21, 2015 12:05 pm That's a good find with the blocks. I like how you've got a fair bit of storage in your plan, as that can really help a house. The front windows look a bit unusual - are going for a heritage appearance with the two narrow windows to appear as if it a single room when looking from the outside? That's quite a clever way of matching the scale of an older style. It'd be interesting to see how that turns out when done. I'd be a bit careful of natural light levels, especially in the kitchen area, as the windows all seem quite distant. It's interesting how fashion changes, and we're going back from open-plan back into having separate kitchens again. Re: Homestead homes South Australia 7Jul 21, 2015 11:04 pm Good score with the blocks that's a handy saving, I saw your plan before but it has disappeared now? How did you go with council? Oh your in PAE council ... That's could be anywhere ... its a a pretty big area Re: Homestead homes South Australia 15Aug 18, 2015 8:34 pm Looks like the perfect spot to build a house! There is something nice about the empty site, though I do need to keep telling myself it's moving forward to spend nearly $10k to go from having a house that could be lived in to nothing. Re: Homestead homes South Australia 16Aug 18, 2015 8:37 pm Excellent. So handy. She was a very pretty house once.
