Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 13, 2015 12:17 pm Hi Everyone, I'm located to the outer east of Melbourne. I was wondering if there is such a thing as good quality paint available in small quantities without being charged an arm and a leg? Is there any place that charges by the litre at a reasonable price for good paint? The reason I ask is I only require around a couple of 1L tins of paint (different colours). And another colour for 2L. 1L costs ~$35. Considering the same paint for 4L costs ~$55......it just seems like a bad deal.......haha..... Especially when you get into the darker bases if you need a darker colour, it gets even worse.... You can get sample pots for less than $10 for 500ml but I'm assuming this is just a 'standard' paint that is just used for colour testing purposes? Otherwise, I'd just get a couple of sample pots. Re: Small Quantities of Good Paint 2Jul 13, 2015 9:22 pm My customers (im a paint shop employee) get around this by purchasing a 4 l tin, measuring out their own 1L quantities, and ask us to supply them with 1 l tint formulas in little containers. Decent paint companies should offer this service, but usually only to trade customers unless you are very friendly and outright admit what you are doing to the sales staff! They should be happy to sell you the 4 litre, and separate tint formulas for 1 litre lots of paint. You mix the paint at home, the stores do not have the facility to do this decanting for you. Only works of course if you are using all the same base! (light colours) Hi all, We are looking to build a new two storey house in western Sydney. Can anyone recommend a smallish builder to go with?
