This could be many different products. The upgrade price does sound ok though. Thanks for your feedback, the standard product is just listed as laminate. Unfortunately the doors wouldn't be laminate. This is a term misused by so many people!! Fully laminated doors are very expensive. I am guessing it would be a prefinished melamine board. We are doing this direct through the supplier NOT the builder. The quote we received for this upgrade is $1600. Does this sound about right or are we being taken advantage of? Any information is appreciated I saw in the Claredon thread someone paid $3000 to upgrade theirs to Createc.. by the way what is Createc? Re: Kitchen Cupboard upgrade - Is this price fair? 8Jun 18, 2015 10:13 am I'm not sure what Createc is, but my quote from the builder for silk finish is $2,000 and for gloss $3,500. If I google Createc it sounds like the high gloss option. My quotes are for a fairly average size kitchen in a 4 bed house. Whatever is the cheapest nastiest option is what it would be, lol. What are you thoughts on the Createc? Hi Bees, Copied from the Polytec website - 'polytec’s CREATEC range allows your kitchen to shine. Its ultra high gloss surface delivers sharp lines and a polished, sophisticated finish. Basically we wanted shiny cabinetry instead of the dull / matte finish if this makes sense. Createc is the only alternative we were offered. Mine is directly through the kitchen company though so no builders margin markup Re: Kitchen Cupboard upgrade - Is this price fair? 13Jun 18, 2015 3:35 pm Bonnie_p ajansen I'm not sure what Createc is, but my quote from the builder for silk finish is $2,000 and for gloss $3,500. Unfortunately i already know the answer to that question, lol. The joys of building with a volume builder lol. Its looks too expensive for what we can probably afford anyway, thanks though Bees I will be happy as long as its white and shiny - not matte or dull. Re: Kitchen Cupboard upgrade - Is this price fair? 15Jun 18, 2015 5:17 pm MrBee by the way what is Createc? High gloss is the best way to put it. How they do it no idea, but it does shine and has a really good depth to it. I installed it in my current kitchen when I upgraded it a few years back and have asked for it in my new house. Bonnie_p Youre probably right. Whatever is the cheapest nastiest option is what it would be, lol. What are you thoughts on the Createc? My thoughts having had it for 3 years is it is a good product if you want high gloss, but don't want he cost of 2 pack. Cost wise I brought some standard doors and some createc doors direct from Polytec and a door 350x735 was $35, same size in Createc $62, so double. Re: Kitchen Cupboard upgrade - Is this price fair? 17Jul 01, 2015 7:11 am Evelin i would not go for an acrylic surface, it is still acrylic meaning it can scratch. 2 pack can scratch, Laminex can scratch.. You can't avoid it. At least with an acrylic or 2pack if scratches aren't really deep you can polish them out. If you polish satin or semi gloss it gives you a glossy spot! 2 pac can be resprayed though. Its the only product on the market that can be repaired! This process can be accelerated by lightly polishing the StyleLite surface immediately after the masking film isremoved using Vuplex, Novus 1, or Plexus Plastic polishes with a clean micro-fibre cloth. Quote: refinishing Minor scratches and scuffing can be removed from StyleLite by hand using a liquid polish and soft micro-fibre cloths. • Use 3M Finesse – It II, Kitten Liquid Polishing Wax, or Novus 2 Fine Scratch Remover. • Apply polish in a gentle circular motion using a clean micro-fibre cloth. • Use a second clean cloth to remove the polish while still damp using a gentle circular motion. More severe damage can be restored using a two step process and a low speed buffing machine. • Use 3M Perfect – It III, Kitten Extra Cut, or Novus 3 heavy scratch remover. • Apply liquid polish sparingly to a 3M Super buff or Lambs wool buff fitted to a 2000 to 3000 rpm polishing machine. • Gently buff the area for 10 to 15 seconds and then inspect the surface. • Repeat if necessary until scratches are removed and then finish to original gloss level using the technique for minor scratches taken from: http://stylelite.net/sites/default/file ... uide_0.pdf Bigger the better for storage for me IMO.
