Building Upside down house in Wantirna VIC Current Stage: Procrastination... it's just all too hard.... Blog: http://thereluctantbuilder.blogspot.com/ Re: Kitchen cabinet colour - help please! 5Dec 08, 2008 12:49 pm Hmmm... I think the white is great with the other colours, but I think it's really impractical for a wall of cupboards, especially around an oven.
I'd pick up the darker greyish colours in the benchtop. It will tie in nicely with both the kitchen and the floor tile. I'd do it in a satin finish. I think everything you've got on the island makes this the feature area. So the cupboards in a lovely grey would look sleek and stylish without competing with your island. White may blend into your walls a little too much. The grey would also be a little more forgiving mess wise than the white. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Thanks very much for the responses, i really appreciate the comments and advice! To be honest, the one colour we've basically ruled out is white!!! haha I'm really not a big fan of white and if i could avoid it, i probably wouldn't have any white walls either I definitely understand why white might seem like a logical choice...but at this stage, its probably at the bottom of our list We're going to have a lot of natural features in the house (using timber and stone extensively) so want to try and keep that going... We were actually considering maybe making the cabinetry a "brushed steel" kind of colour/look...to match the s'steel bench - does anyone think that could work? Thanks again for the comments and please keep them coming! One day I'll hopefully be able to take a photo and show u all how it turned out P.S. I'm not sure about the software unfortunately, we had all our joinery designed for us through our building designer...Cheers, Adam Re: Kitchen cabinet colour - help please! 8Dec 08, 2008 5:35 pm I think the brushed stainless steel look could work.
But what about a grey in a similar tone. Sorry, just loving my own suggestion. I didn't think white would be the go for your place, there's something WOW about your house and I don't think white would cut it. It needs more. Really looking forward to what you decide. Are you brave enough to actually throw in a colour so you have a complete wall of colour! That would be awesome if you have a colour that you'll pick up in the adjoining living spaces. Many people introduce colour with their glass splashback, but you could do it with your wall of cupboards. Red or green or orange or anything. The possibilities are endless. Rather than stainless steel, what about a metallic silver??? That would be awesome! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. And yeh...i've definitely thought about making a real 'statement' with a bright colour...even thought about a bright fuschia or something!! haha The other idea was to get a photo/picture somehow imprinted across the entire wall...split between the panels...if u get what i mean?! haha But...i think finding the right colour will be difficult enough Joles - I LOVE the idea of a metallic silver!!! That's actually pretty high up there in terms of ideas!!! I think it'd look pretty cool! haha Hmm..wonder if i can somehow see how it would look by photoshopping it... Petal - thanks!!! i really hope it turns out how it looks in my head! haha we're starting building in January...so i'll keep everyone updated Re: Kitchen cabinet colour - help please! 14Dec 09, 2008 6:16 am SuH My *choke* SIL *choke* has white high gloss cupboards across the back wall, same as your pic, and they look *choke* great, you can tell we get along Sorry, I've got one of those SILs too Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Kitchen cabinet colour - help please! 15Dec 09, 2008 7:06 am *gag* SIL also has metallic silver at the front of her breakfast bar and as the glass splashback, it would look sensational as cupboards..very

Sister in Law??? haha Anyone have any ideas about getting a sample of "metallic silver" 2pac?? I am getting some metallic champagney coloured cupboards, my kitchen guy had a sample for me to see because he had just done an entire kitchen in it. Maybe yours could make up a sample. If you see the colour chart for metallic colours, it is fairly accurate. Probably a dumb question....but do I just look on a 'paint' website for that chart?! Champagney metallic coloured sounds nice! Re: Kitchen cabinet colour - help please! 20Dec 09, 2008 8:24 am BuildingACT.... how serious are you about putting a pic across the cupboards?
I have been thinking about your kitchen all night.. 2pac is basically car paint so I cannot see any reason why you wouldn't be able to have a pic. Just a matter of sourcing the right artist. I love this idea..... and looking at your kitchen, the layout, style, the wenge, island cooktop, seating on island...... all I see is Japanese!!! What about some really cool Japanese animation across the cupboards?(think The Avatar style). That would look amazing.... but you'd have to be very, very brave. If not some Japanese calligraphy would be cool. Not sure why, but the whole kitchen speaks Japanese top me. (sure hope it cooks japanese as well YUM!!) Anyway, that's what I was thinking about last night. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7156 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3258 |
