Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 May 31, 2015 10:19 pm hi all, this is my first ever post and I'm far from a handy man so please excuse any ignorance from my end. I got a second hand wooden cot that i've bought a matching drape rod for. Only problem is that I've subsequently realised there's no thread to screw the drape rod into on the cot. There's holes but I think the previous owner ripped their drape rod out and removed the metal threads that must have been inserted in. Was just wondering about options. The 2 holes are only 20mm deep and the bolts to fasten the drape rod are m6s. Can I get anchors that are only 20mm long for a 6mm diameter bolt? Or do I just get those nylon plugs used for walls, cut them to 20mm and shove them in the holes and hope the bolts hold the drape rod in? I think the bolts to fasten the drape rod to the cot will only go in a few mm into the cot holes so may not hold. Drape rod is probably less than 500g in weight. Any advice would be appreciated.
