Anyone building/buying in Aspect Estate Greenvale?

It's a shame that horrible thieves have tarnished such a happy time for you.

FYI, if you haven't already done so, you'll need to complete a new waste services request with Council to receive your bins:

The bricks are bothering me and I wasn't impressed with my builder/bricklayer imposing on my neighbours lots but appreciate your consideration Stacey

They have moved them off Ameava's block today and we are supposed to have bricky's onsite next week to finally complete the job!

Forgot to mention, that this doesn't need to be done til a few days before you move in, so is probably more relevant to Newbee and Ameava at this point in time.

I think we also have a neighbour moving in at one of the hemitage homes across the road from us.
Sorry to hear about the break ins thats awful we have been on the look out but no issues as yet.

Thanks- we still have trades doing fix ups so not fully moved in yet, although someone is always staying the night. Hubby met your other half this morning newbee1. I must say that everyone we have met in the street has been lovely- I think we have all done well.. Looking forward to everyone else moving in.

Re - the break - ins, I think that now there is a few of us in our homes, hopefully that will deter anyone from trying to take anything. (finger's crossed).

Hopefully that's deters them Ameava! So awesome you guys are in! I can't wait... Our painter should be finished this week so not sure what the plan is next week... Maybe waterproof bathrooms then tiles! Anyway it's a blessing you're present as we are still missing windows, so makes it pretty easy access at the moment!

Well it hasn't detered them. Mark didn't get to the house until about 10pm- when he got there the front door was smashed in , plaster wrecked , mud through carpet. They took two of his drills. Insurance company are useless at this time of night. I'm only thankful that my girls are at the other house with me as he cant shut the front door. Police can't come until tomorrow!! We are suppose to be moving in Saturday( all our stuff). I'm really over this now!! They have also broken into next door (226). And I tink Mark said the one next door o them... Sorry for the rant- but I'm so angry- very disappointing.

Omg Ameava... This is really scary now! I can't believe it.... I'm so sorry! I think we might put our security camera up as we are delivering tiles and our very bloody expensive door is getting fitted! Such A holes.... I hope someone catches them! Might ramp up our drivebys too and keep an eye out...

Congrats guys but so sorry to hear about the theft and damage. Really puts a dampener on what should be your happiest moment. Now the hassle of insurance and repairs, hope karma kicks their butts and their bad luck comes back to them tenfold! I recall when the park was first built it was our 2nd or 3rd visit and most of the trees had been pulled out, dirt everywhere, irrigation pipes exposed. These people have no conscience!

Hi all,

Been very busy organizing all new house items and the time is flying by. So sorry to hear Nicole that you got broken into again that is terrible.

We have actually been watching and have noticed a Blue Honda Jazz and a Dark Blue Audi hatch driving around after dark in the estate and in particularly up our street. My husband followed them the other day with and we ended up calling the police. Gave all the details to them and haven't seen them since. Hopefully if we both keep our eyes out we can scare them off.

How's everyone's build going?

No more break-ins, touch wood. Our next door neighbour moved in over the weekend. Hopefully now that there is a few of us in the street, there will be no more. Hope everyone is having a positive experience with their builds..

Hi all

I am glad to find this forum. We are considering to buy new release land in Hillside release or Aston in Craigieburn. Let me introduce myself a bit. I am a Professor working in a university in the City and three kids, 5, 6 and 11. The main issue is the daily commute for the kids' school as well as for myself. At the moment I take public transport to work and my wife uses car to drop off kids and pick them up. There is no public bus service in the area. I will have to buy another car if we move in the area. Is this how you guys manage this as well? Are there plans for pubic transport in the area?

Since you have moved in the area, I am sure you will recommend it but may I ask the reason(s) for your decision to move in this estate and not in Aston in Craigieburn or around etc?

Hi Tmaq,

I have recently sold in Craigieburn and have built in Aspect. Although there is no bus service yet in Greenvale I am sure there will be in the future like most new estates. I much prefer the area and my neighbours are great. I also take public transport to the city, I drive to the train station after I drop my children off at Before School Care and Childcare. I have a 4 and 6 year old.

In regards to preferring Greenvale over Craigieburn, I guess it is personal choice. Craigieburn does have the bus and train- although I never got the train from Craigieburn as you need to arrive at the station by 6.35am to be able to get a park. Everywhere else near the train station is permit parking so you have to drive to another suburb to get the train. I bought this up with Council once and they told me to drive to Coolaroo ( kind of defeats the purpose really). I didn't take to the schools in Craigieburn and preferred to send my children elsewhere. Also we found that once the shopping centre was built people were leaving shopping trolley's everywhere which kind of made the area look a little messy. Having to drive 3 minutes down the road for shopping doesn't worry me (and also means no trolleys). This is just my personal opinion, I have a few friends in Craigieburn and they seem happy enough. Hi Tmaq and welcome. We sold our home of 15 years in Gladstone Park as we outgrew it. Our three kids are aged 7, almost 10 and almost 13. My husband grew up in the Tullamarine area. So I guess we chose Aspect because it's closer to commute than Craigieburn, I know we're talking not by very much, but in peak hour it can make a difference. Hubby has an accounting practice in the city and drives in every day. When we finish building he'll probably drop our oldest at Greenvale S.C. to catch her bus to Penola Glenroy. The younger two go to Tullamarine Primary so I do the drop off/pick ups and the school has outside school hours care for when I'm working. So yes we need two cars but that works for us. Eventually they'll have to run the bus service further and widen Mickleham Rd given the massive development along there, but as road users we'll just have to live with the traffic in peak hours and plan our time better

Thank you Ameava and liztek. You gave me a quick glimpse of how you are managing things which is very helpful. I am kinda sustainability advocate person and want to keep away from cars if possible. I like Aspect much more than Aston, the feel and environment is great and I am glad to see nice people are living here:-)

Very excited to find out I have a slab poured yesterday. Framing starts tomorrow. Had to drive out there and quickly take photos before it was too dark. Saw some guys doing landscaping on the nature strips, looks really good. Can't wait to move in!! How's everyone's builds going? (Or houses if moved in!)

How exciting mlp18. Our slab is due to be poured next week. We've done all the plumbing, etc despite the cold and sometimes wet weather. Which leads me to ask if anyone has heard from Council or received any fines. We got some in the mail yesterday for a dirty driveway and because some of our dirt has spilled into the next block (even though we experienced the same on our block from other builds which didn't worry us as we weren't quite ready to build yet, we made no complaint). Another reason was we don't have the silt cloth on our temporary fence....I'm not sure I've noticed the green silt cloth on many of the builds? They've taken photos and fined us $2k which is ridiculous as there's mud everywhere. Does anyone have a similar experience or any insight on this?

tmaq, I forgot to mention that we have family who own Tullamarine Bus Lines but he's currently overseas. When he returns I'll speak to him about future routes in our area, as that stuff is usually planned ahead. Will keep you posted.

Hi all

Welcome tmaq and good luck with your decisions. I work close to Greenvale and drive my car to work so can not really comment I do however really like living in Aspect and all the people are lovely.

Very exciting mlp18 that your slab is down it will go really quick now.

Things are going well now we are in and im happy to say we have had no issues post handover with Boutique homes (touch wood).

Next step is front landscaping that should hopefully start soon...

It has been lovely meeting everyone on the street and hope to met everyone else soon.
