Did you have a sparky connect all the feature lights after hand over? Big job? Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2371May 15, 2015 1:29 am snyde Wow, that's a bright front! Did you have a sparky connect all the feature lights after hand over? Big job? He charges $300 a day, so not bad depending on how many lights, fans, switches you want. We got a split aircon installed in garage for wifey work. He ran a dedicated cable with circuit breaker and charged us $800 parts and labour. It required a wall mount bracket to mount external unit high enough for verandah to go underneath. Other sparky quoted $20 per light changeover. Post handover is a big project by itself. Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2372May 15, 2015 1:37 am Update:
One split aircon installed in garage today. Three bedrooms and TV room roller blinds installed. Tomorrow would be working on 6 roller blinds downstairs. Henley done caulking on three places. Heating guys replaces TV room duct and installed network controller upstairs. Now we can operate heating from upstairs. Plus upstairs zoning only option is working properly. It has sensor to sense temperature to turn heating unit on and off. Alarm system finalized, we can arm/disarm whole downstairs from upstairs with remote control. All lights fittings completed. Extra light point installed under staircase area. We are using this area a lot. One thing we noticed here is climate control. It's way too warm compare to our old house. Six star rating and double glazing is well worth it. Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2374May 15, 2015 9:45 am Is it really warmer than your previous place? I am really interested as we have upgraded insulation and double glazing. Have you had the heating on much, at what temp, and how frequently does it fire up? I am hoping our energy bills will be slashed in comparison to our old no-insulated place. Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2375May 15, 2015 1:37 pm siapao Hey mirz at what height are yours lights on the portico installed at? And damn you are the post handover machine! It's 21 bricks high at bottom Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2376May 15, 2015 1:40 pm semerson Is it really warmer than your previous place? Our older is about 15 years old and we went with insulation during kevin07 scheme. But still there is a massive temperature difference between the two houses. Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2378May 15, 2015 2:08 pm macmaz Hi Mirz, must say astounding result! Hey way back you mentioned you were going to do verandah on the side, is the plan still on? Also whats your take on solar? Thanks, we went with stratco outback for side verandah in same colour scheme as our house. It's ready to go up, just waiting for concreting to complete. We have signed up for 4 kW solar system with Aurora 4.2 kW inverter. It will have total 16 solar panels split into two separate arrays. 8 on north and 8 on west side of the roof. It costs us $4700 in total. Solar company is going to lodge our application with govt and power company in next day or so. Hopefully system will be installed before end of June. Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2380May 15, 2015 4:19 pm macmaz So you got away from local contractor for verandah, may I know the reasons? 4KW solar 16 panels will be 4.5 KW. Also which provider you went with for this? Stratco installer is local too. Other mob was only working with fielders brand. It's 250 watts each panel, so 16 will make 4 kW. I'll let you know company name tonight. We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37594 The concreter will take and reuse.
