Perhaps if he'd have had one of these he wouldn't be needing that insurance Before the top section went on it looked a bit like the starship Enterprise to me. Re: Studio (fancy shed) build 264May 15, 2015 9:37 am I guess that it will come in at about 100kg. Not too heavy to move with a trolley. I'm hoping to get it to a stage where I can test fire it this weekend. Re: Studio (fancy shed) build 265May 16, 2015 12:22 pm It's finished! We had a test firing and there are a couple of pin holes to weld but it works like a charm. Easy to light and keeps the heat in really well. The firebox will take logs up to 600mm in length. There are controls that allow the air in and out to be adjusted. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It is now sitting outside in the rain to get a nice even coat of rust. We were going to paint it with stove black but thought that it would lose some of its’ character. Re: Studio (fancy shed) build 267May 16, 2015 3:45 pm I'd test it inside if possible. The minute that thing goes outdoors one of the US spy satellites will pick it up and the anti-terror squad will be around quick smart and frog march you way for some intense questioning. It looks like the first stage rocket for an ICBM ! If I look out to the West and see a glow on the horizon this weekend, I'll know you've fired it up. Stewie Re: Studio (fancy shed) build 268May 16, 2015 7:12 pm I don't know what to say. Just make sure it is bolted down before you fire it up otherwise they may be another unidentified satellite in near earth orbit around earth. P.S. before you start ploughing it may be a good idea to check the tines on your plough as there may be 4 tines missing! We just completed it today and spent the entire afternoon moving it 50m from the shed to the studio. It weighs about 3 tonne and is nearly 4m high. It's made entirely from scrap. The deck area is now complete with recycled brick paving and bush poles for railing. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It also became clear that we were going to need a toilet at the studio. So......we're building one. We will use a Nature-Loo composting toilet so the floor needs to be at least 650mm off the ground to cater for the composting chambers. First relocate the local flora.
