They make spin about how their inline reveal system is better, but I think there is more cons with it. For starters standard blind sizes wont fit, and as already mentioned if the carpenter isn't made aware of using A&L windows then he will surely frame the opening too big. All your windows will seem 30mm smaller from the inside than plan dimensions, the measurement on the outside will appear bigger and more like the plan sizes (typically 10mm bigger as it is industry knowledge that a 1200 wide window is 1210 wide and so on). This is to suit bricks Re: Advice Please: Window size differnt to house plans 12May 06, 2015 11:40 am Avoca26 Hello Homeoners. I'm currently in the process of building a home and have run into a weird problem. So on our building plans it show that our windows come in sizes of 600mm, 900mm, 1500mm, 1800mm, 2400mm & 3000mm which seems to all be pretty standard window measurements. But the other day I was measuring up for our blinds and they were all smaller ranging from 35mm to 90mm throughout the whole house.. Is this normal because I have never come across this and have been told by our builder "that's just how we do things and every builder is going to have different window sizes" this just sound ridiculous Are the builders obligated to fix this or are we stuck with odd sized windows and have to get everything custom made?? Hi Avoca, This is very common - we're constantly supplying blinds for new houses. House plans are great to get quotes from, but you'll find when it comes to measuring the windows for actual size they will differ. Measurements on house plans are generally rounded, and often windows aren't exactly square (although they will appear so to the eye). Here is a video to give some tips on how to measure windows once your architraves are in: http://www.homeblindsaustralia.com.au/content/how-to-measure-windows-for-blinds-plantation-shutters If you're interested in measuring and installing blinds for yourself, you'll find you can order custom made blinds online for similar prices to ready made blinds. I hope that helps! Naomi Re: Advice Please: Window size differnt to house plans 13May 06, 2015 8:33 pm oneJohn Here's a picture from A&L windows showing their construction. They market it as a premium feature, but I don't know it makes a lot of difference. The windows will usually have the manufacturer name on them somewhere, often marked onto the catch handle on slider widows. oneJohn.. you were bang on with your answer. the windows are definitely A&L. so looks like no off the shelf blinds for us.
