Browse Forums Window Furnishings Re: Blind options for wide window 5Apr 24, 2015 3:47 pm robbie_p Thanks! I have looked online and you are able to get them custom made and 270cm wide. Now to decide on Venetian or roller blinds. Mmmmm any preference? For a window that wide, it's a matter of deciding whether you would be happy to open/close the slats on a venetian, or if you would want to ever lift it up completely. The 'spring assist' mechanism which xxkatxx referred to is available for a roller blind (to ensure ease of use opening and closing the blind despite the size of the blind). However, a venetian blind of that width would be quite heavy, so it wouldn't be recommended that you lift the whole blind up/down often (other than for occasions to clean the window etc), you'd be better off only opening and closing the slats to control privacy/light. I hope that helps. Re: Blind options for wide window 6Apr 24, 2015 3:56 pm Yup agreed.. As our window faces onto our verandah (kids often outside there) and doesnt get huge amounts of sunlight, if we went for venetians we would only open/close the slats. The thing i find with roller blinds is that its "all or nothing" i.e fully open of fully closed. Re: Blind options for wide window 8Apr 24, 2015 4:07 pm robbie_p Yup agreed.. Some people who want to go with rollers, but want something in between 'open' or 'closed' choose to get a double roller blind with a blockout fabric, and a sunscreen (sheer) fabric - http://www.homeblindsaustralia.com.au/roller-blinds/dual/sunscreen-blockout So that's another option you could consider. As xxkatxx said though, while many fabrics will come in a width of 3000mm, some don't. So just shoot me an email if you see a specific fabric you'd like to enquire about.
