In some spots were the bedrock was deeper we just dug down to good solid fresh dirt. The stone walls are twice as wide at the base as they are high. Still got to find something to make the door and latch, flue fitting, damper and air inlet. The cost so far has just been welding consumables..... and time and effort. I would suggest you simply go and talk to council about your proposal, most councils are getting onboard with ancillary dwellings.
