They have yet to respond to our email, but we're anticipating reaching full plate height this Friday. We're also going to hire a building inspector at plate height to make sure everything is a-ok to process forward. I don't know if that's a common thing to do or not, but apparently despite going through council and everything not a single independent inspector has to come through to approve it at the end! So we're taking it upon ourselves to get one in now and later on in the process. We took these photos this past Sunday (12th April), so a full week from the last set. You're looking at our exposed wardrobe and the pantry to the left and then the door to the rear of the house. To the right is the study. We're missing a few walls here! It was incredibly deep on Sunday, in fact the whole house was pretty flooded. The only thing left to do in the rear is brick in our activity area and finish off the fridge recess. At the front they have the most work, including our interior garage walls which haven't been touched. Plus the external walls, which went up first, still aren't at plate height. Neither is the front of the theatre, they did half face brick and seemed to stop for some reason! Hopefully at my next update it will be at plate height. Then before you know it we'll get a roof! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 33Apr 19, 2015 4:09 pm So unfortunately our build did not reach plate height (or high, as apparently I'm calling it the wrong thing!) this week much to our annoyance. Considering the week before had been very wet and rainy they actually did LESS WORK in 6 beautiful sunny days than in all the rain. So we are not happy to say the least. All they did in that time period was the little wall for all our robes, our walk in robe and the internal garage walls. Which sounds like an okay amount but for six full working days we're not very impressed, especially when we were promised it'd be complete. They still need to do two full walls in our activity, wall between our bedroom/theatre, the rest of our ensuite, bits in our bathrooms and kitchens, our pantry AND actually reach plate height/high everywhere. Not so impressed email has been sent so I look forward to hearing the lame excuses about why it is still incomplete. Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 34Apr 25, 2015 2:41 pm Okay so we have reached plate high! Then the next day they started roof timbers! Which is impressive, especially considering we've not paid them yet... We also paid for a private building inspector to come through, which was so worth the money and the reassurances. Our brickwork is incomplete, which we did know, so that needs to be finished and theres also two other issues that we would've never picked up. We should hopefully hear on Tuesday when they're going to be rectified, especially considering they've started on our roof. Anyway these photos are from this week: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Looking very impressive! I love it so much already. It feels very big, I am iffy on the open window space. We plan to eventually put shutters there but at the moment I think I'll need to see how it looks once more things are complete. I do love it, I loved it on our display home, it's just seeing it in the flesh finally I am questioning it a little! We are thinking of doing this for pci. But not sure who to go to. Would love to hear your experience regarding getting your own, prices and conditions etc. thank you x Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73578 We paid $500 I believe (I didn't pay, partner did but were originally advised $450), I will PM you the finer details! We didn't actually search for any, my partner's work colleague recommended the ones we went through and he was also able to show us the inspector report - which was why we ended up going with them, as it was good to see what you were paying for! We also intend to do it at PCI as well, we thought bricks were also important as we have no clue about trades and we feel super reassured to see very few "errors". So worth the money if it helps you sleep easy! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 37Apr 29, 2015 5:42 am Rory if you don't mind I'd love to have the details too please I've just sent off for 3 quotes for inspections! So very timely Your brickwork looks very neat and yay for roof timbers - so happy things are moving along nicely for you!! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 38May 03, 2015 9:49 pm We are yet to resolve our brick issue, hopefully hear from them tomorrow or I will be forced to call. BUT in other news our build has continue to push on! They started our roof timbers immediately after brickwork and have finished the timbers and our weatherboard roof features as of Thursday. It looks awesome to see the scale of everything and our front facade come together. We have also had the trades begin to "carve" our bricks out for our sockets and light switches as well. Pretty interesting to see where they ended up and if we made the right choices about locations! Guess we'll have to wait until we move in to know for sure. We've been told our roof will be on by Thursday so I'll save my next round of pictures for then. Fingers crossed it goes up! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 39May 04, 2015 3:56 am Looking forward to the roof pics And thanks for the info! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 40May 14, 2015 7:59 pm We have a roof! Was a few days later than we thought (as we misread what we were told), but ended up being earlier than it should've been so happy all around! It looks AMAZING. It's just so nice to see everything finally come together as well, and to be like "yup, right choice in colours" for everything externally. We still have to wait for a few things (like weatherboard paint etc), but very pleased with the outside of the house so far.
