Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building on Acreage - North West Sydney 7Apr 08, 2015 1:53 pm rahul just going a bit off the topic, how much extra do you think you would be paying for buying a plot of land in the first release itself for Box Hill? Since that is a very new suburb, what do you think would be the cost of land there, and wouldn't it be a better idea to have that, instead of taking the risk of buying and building on acreage itself? I am a noob on this, so don't have too much idea on all this so far. Box Hill is residential, acreage is rural, so it isn't really a fair comparison. I'm already in the Hills on residential, so I wouldn't consider moving to Box Hill. I'd estimate a block of land in Box Hill would be around $650k. Acreage is somewhere around twice that. For me, buying acreage is a lifestyle choice, and will provide open space and the opportunity to keep a few animals. This is the best choice for me. My wife and I have done enough research and are comfortable with all the issues. The main issue is block selection - waiting patiently for the right one and securing it.
