Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 12Nov 23, 2008 11:22 am Thanks Southies! The tank...hmmm...well, "included" in our package was a 3000lt tank. but of course it was the huge round one - not necessarily a problem BUT we are building on a slope and the round one just wouldn't fit next to the house unless we levelled out the land even more. So, we had no choice but to upgrade to the slimline 5000lt. we are planning on getting another 2000lt or 3000lt slimline tank after we move in and hoping that on that one we will get some rebate.
we also want to connect to greywater - i hate to think what they are going to charge to make sure our plumbing allows that. i saw a great looking greywater diverter at bunnings for about $400 which I am hoping we can hook up after handover. L Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 13Nov 23, 2008 11:38 am Loretta, our builder charged $506 to supply and install grey water diverter during construction.
Now we just have to buy the actual hosing from hardware store - when we have a garden to divert water to. Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 14Nov 23, 2008 1:18 pm Hey Loretta
Only one structual change to take 7.5cm off the width at the front down stairs and changing a couple of window styles and that't it! We've had to upgrade our tank aswell to a 10000L underground tank!!! Thanks council! L We asked about grey water and were told it was too hard and too expensive. Foolishly we didn't push on this. The guy who came to do the trenching showed me how easy and cheap it could have been to add some extra piping to allow us to catch the water water from the bath and showers (ie plumb in grey water). However it was too late then to make any changes so we missed out- the pipes are in the slab. So keep asking on this point regards sean Hi HomeOne, I'm in the midst of landscaping a cat run down the side of my house, and the recent rains have me wondering if I need to install some sort of drainage.
