Must be an asterik with lots of fine print next to the 20 weeks really hope you get PCI next week and keys quickly thereafter. Hope hubby stays safe. Good on him, it's just been an awful fire season. Yep I think lots of asterix! Probably 20 weeks from lockup haha Melsie68 Oh em it will be the end soon . Dont you just love those ads . I think those homes are homes you cant add anything . . But I dont see why all the builds cant be like that . How was the first day at kindy . You wont know yourself on the days she is at school .more time to think .he he . You must be so proud that your hubby is doing such a good thing . .good luck for next week Kindy went fairly well - she goes 5 days a fortnight (alternate wednesdays) and daycare the other days. Unfortunately I have to work every day now (Just school hours on the days she's in kindy) so I don't even get my Mondays to think anymore (I used to have them off)! haha Thanks for the kind words for hubby. He's in logistics so not frontline thank goodness. He came back yesterday afternoon which was great. Might have to go back at the end of the week to help demobilise for a few days but at least he'll have a few days at home. I spoke with the construction manager yesterday and he says we should be having PCI on Monday. They are halfway done paving the driveway and carpets are due in at the end of this week. We reminded them that they were supposed to take out the half tile at the doorway of the kitchen and laundry to run the tiles through to the laundry which they hadn't and looks like the grout has been done as well. The CM agreed that he will have this done so I think the tiler isn't going to be happy (too bad, we said it at the tiling meeting and in subsequent emails). Hopefully this won't delay PCI though. Still waiting for our CLO to confirm PCI date & time (supposedly monday). They have however approved for my hubby to install the side gate and have our pavers for the back delivered and laid (he and his mate are doing it) between PCI & handover so that's at least helpful, that we can actually move in straight away following handover. Poor hubby and his mate are going to be paving after work each night next week! Our SS called in sick (thankfully) and we had the construction manager & another SS there instead. Everyone pretty much agreed on what needed to be done which was a relief. Unfortunately the driveway paving, garage door & door staining is to be completed tomorrow. Also there was a problem with the electrical so we weren't able to test lights & appliances but will do that at the final inspection. We had nearly 2 pages of items which I was surprised about (and the CM even said he was disappointed it was more than 1 page). The only major things is the ensuite shower floor needs to be regrouted and we are not happy with the tiling in the laundry. There is a half tile at the door of the kitchen into the laundry which we asked 3 times to be replaced with a full tile into the laundry which wasn't done and now it looks like an after thought. He is going to check with the tiler to make sure that there's no reason why it can't be done. Anyway he expects it all to be done before the long weekend and planning handover for Feb 27th. It'll be good to have the long weekend to move in. Hubby spent the weekend leveling the backyard as he and a mate are paving next week and our side gate will get installed this week. It is finally coming together! Forgot to take photos today! Dumb! Sorry to hear list was longer than expected but sounds like they're onto it and all on the same page. So, you're doing paving and earth leveling before key handover? Hmmm, we have a retaining wall and paving to do ourselves (well someone is doing it for us, but not the builder). I assumed we'd have to wait until after handover. Should we ask if we can have it done before? Re: Our 101 Residential build - Queens Park - PCI complete 230Feb 16, 2015 4:31 pm ardie514 Yay, glad it went pretty well. Should we ask if we can have it done before? Yep we got permission to do before handover (they also let us put in retaining & a new back fence early in the piece). We are only doing the back and sides ourselves, they did the driveway paving. I think different builders see things differently, some are ok with you doing stuff and some not. Doesn't hurt to ask though. I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say half a tile in the laundry, do you have a photo? How annoying if you've told them multiple times and it still wasn't fixed. Re: Our 101 Residential build - Queens Park - PCI complete 232Feb 16, 2015 9:07 pm Congrats on PCI, even if the list was longer than expected! Re: Our 101 Residential build - Queens Park - PCI complete 233Feb 18, 2015 3:44 pm MalSannie Hi Em - sorry to hear you had more than would be ideal, but it sounds like they're at least owning up to them and given you a tentative handover date which is great! I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say half a tile in the laundry, do you have a photo? How annoying if you've told them multiple times and it still wasn't fixed. Don't have a photo (how weird!) but it's basically as if the tiling finished at the kitchen/laundry door, so they have a half tile and seal. Then they've continued on tiling the laundry from there instead of replacing it with a full tile across the door so it flows through non stop. Trying to organise the bank and final payment and valuation and all that jazz now, what a pain in the butt! We have to put in about $1800 ourselves but apparently we need to provide a receipt for this to our bank before they'll process the last payment. Weird, we assumed we could just pay all on the handover day when we have our final inspection. So letterboxes, where do you get those nice address plaques for them? Very little has been done this week to tick off our 2 page list. Still no garage door! The driveway and electrical was finished and the controller for the aircon finally went in. Apparently the tiler went in to check the laundry but we haven't heard the outcome of that yet. What are everyone doing for letterboxes? We don't have much room at the end of our driveway but looking for a concrete one to match the timeless grey and hoping to find one that fits an address plaque. Anyone got any recommendations? We'll be sending positive vibes your way. I'm getting my pop (bricklayer) to brick us a letterbox, it's going to be a rather large feature and just buying a face plate from Masters. You can get customs letterbox plaques made there Re: Our 101 Residential build - Queens Park - Letterbox advi 237Feb 20, 2015 7:37 pm Hey em. I bet they'll finish up but will stress you out to the finish line. Seems to be a common theme on here haven't figured out our mailbox situation yet but i have seen some at bunnings and masters that looked nice and lots of number plates to choose from. I also remember seeing one at home base expo that did the plates. Actually think same company as laundry line. Aussie washing lines or something like that. Good luck Re: Our 101 Residential build - Queens Park - Letterbox advi 238Feb 21, 2015 11:34 pm Ok I think I know what you mean regarding the half a tile - how odd! We'll not have the same tile in the laundry and the kitchen so we'll have half tiles probably too! Would've liked the same tile throughout but RedInk said max 300x300 for wet areas Good luck with the handover stuff and I hope they get it all done in time. I'm also interested in what you find for a letterbox - by the time our house is built (if ever) we'll need one too! Re: Our 101 Residential build - Queens Park - Letterbox advi 239Feb 21, 2015 11:58 pm I dont even know if I have a half tile .lol. but I have different tiles so they dont match . If you have the same tike throughout then it will diffently look better with a full tile . I get so many comments on my pakman mailbox . Re: Our 101 Residential build - Queens Park - Letterbox advi 240Feb 24, 2015 11:29 am Thanks for all your comments guys! Hubby has been working on our backyard all weekend and started paving yesterday and saw our construction manager & site supervisor too. They assured us handover will definitely be on Friday even with the fact that they are going to re-tile the laundry! The painter was there yesterday and the garage door finally went on! I've been looking at these letterboxes, we don't have room for a full brick feature unfortunately. I like this one but the plaque would be too low, so I think I'd just go numbers. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2249 |
