yes...the dragon takes a little to fire up, but she'll breathe lots of fire when needed

As for PD - its amazing how all of a sudden something that cant be done any quicker that 3-6 weeks yesterday can all of a sudden be done by next week!

Question for the day - what do we have to crack the sh*ts before they get off there a*se and do something??

More noise you make, the more attention you get.

I wonder if all builders are the same. I have my suspicions.....

very true, SQUEAK!....still, whenever we have a problem with PD we look at each other and say "at least it's better than what they did to poor Perry!"

Yeah its kinda ironic that when people look at my blog they all say "geez and what about those poor guys who were building with PD!"

Matt - your blog is a real credit. Well done.

I hope that you really have a good journey with Carlilse Homes. I must say though, that not everything is bad with PD.

We've reached an understanding with them, and parted on good terms.

There are also many other happy customers on this forum, so I'll put it down to being one of the unlucky ones.

In relation to PD's tardiness in responding we have found the same thing. I ended up speaking with our CSR's manager as there were changes we had wanted to make and then were told after 6 weeks of chasing said CSR up about it, that it was too late to do anything the building permit was issued. Outcome was less than satisfactory but thats another story. Anyway she has been slightly better since then.

BUT the manager said they have approx 50 files each! Which I find insane. Surely with the amount of money we are spending they could at least reach a certain level of customer service. ie. respond to an email within 24 hours instead of 5 days.

Rant over.

Aside from this we have had a good run so far. Start building on Tuesday

My friend told me PD only has 6 years guarantee, I think it is ok. when I start to build PD home, I understand what is 6 years guarantee. Yes. it is 6 years guarantee, not 30 or 25 years guarantee like other builders.

I am an unlucky one who build with PD too. Our site hasn't start yet but they way that the admin talk to us is like... we are begging PD to build the house.

Structural Guarantee with Porter Davis is 7 years, Simonds - 7 years, Metrico n - 25 years.

I'm curious as to why there is a big difference. Does anyone know?

The statutory requirement in most states is for the builder's warranty to cover a period of six years. Anything more than that is a bonus. Id' be interested to know what M actually cover for the remaining 19 years.... :th:

I just trawled through umpteen pages of legislation, looking for the warranty period required by law. ::wornout::

Then I found this nice simple chart:

I think it's actually 6.5 years in Vic now, for homes built after 2005 or thereabouts. Some of the other info might be out of date too, but you get the idea. If your house is going to fall down, you'd better hope it's in the first six years. :roll:

I think it's at their (M's) request. Legal stuff.... There are a few other builders whose names end up blanked out.

I am so glad I came across this forum before I started building.

I am building with PD and trying to get in before the First home buyers ends June 30 .. 1 Month after I gave my deposit NOTHING had been done, no appointments phone calls etc. They keep referring to their "Procedures of purchase' but that has completely gone out the window.. I've had to call and email them numerous times just to keep on schedule.

That's one thing I learnt on this forum. You have to be in control of your building experience and know almost as much as they do. Then they can't take you for a ride.

In the end all the builders are the same and you have to decide what house YOU want.

My family and I have just signed onto Porter Davis - we looked around and the floor plans were the one that suited us best - this is thefirst time we have eve built -we are building the Marriott 44 has any one got any advise for us as a heads up?
we are building at Uni Hill in Bundoora and were surprised to see that they had tried to double up in the cost that we had already included - took us a few days to get things right - but hopefully we are over the hard bits
