Haha. And I am totally in line with the one income budget also. How is it progressing so far?? Yeah, it is a bumpy ride, but must be done, haha. It is coming along well, I am up to the framing stage, but that wont happen until after Christmas. They finished all the blockwork though!! I should start my own build thread, will get there one day! Haha. Where are you up to with your build?? Dale - Building Newbie Proserpine, QLD Re: Building House in Proserpine, QLD - a newbie! 5Dec 14, 2014 1:24 pm At the final leg of administration- signing off the final drawings this week then hopefully slab and siteworks starting Jan 5. Has been a real stuggle, though I hope that the build will be cruisy from early next year. It's annoying about the xmas break but hopefully will be a fast build after with everyone being refreshed- and more money to save on ridiculous variation costs :-p Modified Killara25 Brisbane, QLD Re: Building House in Proserpine, QLD - a newbie! 6Dec 14, 2014 5:32 pm CocoBrisbane At the final leg of administration- signing off the final drawings this week then hopefully slab and siteworks starting Jan 5. It's annoying about the xmas break but hopefully will be a fast build after with everyone being refreshed- and more money to save on ridiculous variation costs :-p Excellent! Congrats! Make sure you post up your plans etc when finalised! Yes, it will be difficult over the Christmas break driving past the block with nothing happening, but they need their holidays! I am very close to budget, so not much wriggle room for variations Luckily I have a builder, electrician and landscaper as friends, so can do lots after handover for very cheap Dale - Building Newbie Proserpine, QLD Re: Building House in Proserpine, QLD - a newbie! 7Dec 14, 2014 5:40 pm I am doing so many things post handover too- although I don't know anyone so will have to line up loads of dates with tradies lol. I have driveway, letterbox, clothesline, decking, crimsafe or alternative competitor, plantation shutters, electrical, render, flooring...sure there is a lot more. Too many to think about! I know that I have gone over my budget by a fair whack so my life will likely consist of noodles after handover lol. Good way to save money by doing things after handover, although I know some people who did lots after handover and wished that they spent the extra 10k getting it done as part of build after the stress of organising tradies! If it wasnt for noodles I would have starved at university, haha! My house will consist of a bed and fridge and not much else for the first few months at least!! I am anticipating some giftcards for xmas for homewares though- luckily! I used to look up shoes online but now I find myself focused on taps etc- very different! I am anticipating some giftcards for xmas for homewares though- luckily! I used to look up shoes online but now I find myself focused on taps etc- very different! I am hoping for friends and family to chip in some things like kettle, toaster, etc but of course I wont expect them to give me anything (it would be nice though!!). Mum wants to buy my bed and fridge, so I will probably spend my money on getting the alfresco up and running. Being a guy, we love our outdoor areas with bbq, pool table, tv and all that stuff! Some gift cards would be a perfect present - able to buy what suits your tastes! Otherwise you end with some hideous looking stuff that people buy for you :p At 26 I had to make the move to get my own house, I just keep telling myself that the debt will be worth it I am going to go out on a limb and assume you're a female given the shoe shopping? Could be putting my shoe in my mouth by assuming that, haha!
