But their after sales service is shocking. We have been waiting two years for them to repair the damaged, very expensive double glazed windows they installed. Got your money now go away. Avoid. Re: Jason Windows vs Dowell brand? 5Mar 17, 2015 9:03 am Don't buy Dowell windows the service is the worst and will give you nightmares. I asked for invisi guard security doors on my sliding doors 3 times and when I went out to pay deposit and go through everything the answer I got in writing the next day was "I must have simply missed this off" The first lot of windows I ordered on the 13th May, however my builder was never advised they would be delivered without glass. My builder called everyday for over two weeks and each day was told someone would advise when the glass would come. Finally the glass turned up on 3rd June (three weeks later) out of the blue no notice. So the build was delayed 3 weeks. Then when they were installed the windows they wouldn't close/lock. Again my builder called everyday and didn't get any answer when it would be fixed. Finally on 19th July (5 1/2 weeks later) Dowell came out and fixed them all, windows now close/lock. However he couldn't get the flywire screens in. So the following week on 26th July (one week later) he came back and fitted the flywire, but again he didn't know how to put the flywire clips in. So finally on the 19th Aug (3 1/2 weeks later) the clips are now in to hold the flywire in place. So a total of 13 weeks to have my windows fully completed, so don't order if you are in a rush or want service Re: Jason Windows vs Dowell brand? 6Mar 19, 2015 5:29 pm We have jasons windows .I dont know about the other company. My dad worked for jasons for a very long time . The service is great as well as there warrenty . I also really like their slidding door handles Re: Jason Windows vs Dowell brand? 7Mar 19, 2015 6:04 pm Thanks everyone for the replies, it's great to hear different viewpoints and reasons behind them. Just to update, we found that the builder has used Jason windows after all, which is what we wanted in the first place, so all good Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Jason Windows vs Dowell brand? 8Jul 25, 2015 4:52 pm Beware of Dowell sliding door products! Our home has fifteen aluminium and glass sliding doors that were supplied by DOWELL which is a subsidiary of BORAL and that includes four 1200mm x 2400mm stacking doors. A month after moving into our new home I noticed that the powder coating was coming off all the door sill tracks in large flakes, that the tracks had a massive burr on each side, and were as noisy as hell. I removed the door from the worst affected track (all 60 KGs of it) and to my horror discovered that the wheels were made of STEEL and engaged only a small arc at the top of the ALUMINIUM track (huh?) the result….. yes, predictably….. Absolute destruction of the aluminium track. The Dowell service guy came and replaced the two wheel assemblies on ONE door with a nylon wheel version and left me with a severely damaged track that took me an hour to clean up with a file and emery paper. Because there were another twenty eight assemblies with STEEL wheels on the other doors I tried to get DOWELL to at least supply more nylon wheels. They said that the wheels were covered by warranty but being steel were not damaged and that the tracks that by this time were ruined were not covered by warranty. Over the past four years I have replaced all the steel wheel assemblies at my cost and my labour and I have spent probably sixty hours of my time and in excess of $600 on this exercise. In my opinion DOWELL WINDOWS AND DOORS behaved in a very unprofessional manner. Re: Jason Windows vs Dowell brand? 9Jul 27, 2015 9:13 am Dowell is not a subsidiary of Boral, it was bought by G James about a year ago. I am ashamed to say, I had Dowell doors for 20 years with no problem. Don't be fobbed off. Steel and aluminium don't go together, the galvanic action when wet, will eat the aluminium.
