Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New member, Want to build the house in 6months 21Nov 10, 2008 11:35 am A guy at work built with NBG single story 35square house, took 9months!!
Your adv with the 'bigger' boys, is they usually have a guartnee days, $imonds who we built with guartnees 220 (single story), BUT they have completed it within 5 months, the reason they say 220 is to allow for any delays that may come about outside their control ie- delays from suppliers, usually if no delays 15-20 weeks is when they can complete a single story house (according to my CSO)! PD does the 20 weeks guarntee for single stories, l think devine does 16 weeks but have been known to finish within 11! (not sure of that, my CSO told me that too!) not sure of the other 'bigger' boys time frames. My understanding of NBG they are have very competitve prices for their houses, so l guess you need to ask yourself what is more important price or time?? Total time for us inc land settlement is 9 months! it took 4 months to settle land, 5 months to build, (really 10 months cause there was about a month btn when land settled and building started!), that is a single story house! Re: New member, Want to build the house in 6months 22Nov 10, 2008 1:50 pm There is a huge difference in build time between single and double story. I have not come across any volume builder who says 6 months for a DS.
As Stormy says, that's only the build time, you still have 6-9 months of stuffing about with your builder regarding contracts, permits, colours, materials, price etc beforehand. No way no how.. Sounds like rubbish to me. Ask for the contamination report which I doubt they have. If it's part of a normal subdivision it would have had a contamination report done… 9 5926 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 19849 1 10673 |
