Re: Where to get moving boxes? 9Oct 07, 2014 3:23 pm I agree that buying boxes for the purpose is definitely worthwhile. Trying to stack boxes of mismatched sizes can be a nightmare and generally if they have been used before, the strength of the box is reduced. Try to think of the cost as a worthwhile investment in the safe transport of your belongings and incorporate it into the overall cost of your interstate move. As an experienced removalist, the best tip I can give is to have a couple of different sizes of boxes (smaller ones for heavy items like books, bigger ones for lighter items like bedding), when packing them, be sure to fill right to the top, that way they can be stacked without risk of collapse. I always found the boxes from here http://www.visy.com.au/packaging/cardboard-boxes/ to be great quality and reasonably priced. Worked out cheap enough, delivery was fast, boxes are good quality. Re: Where to get moving boxes? 11Mar 03, 2015 6:12 pm If you really want to avoid paying for moving boxes you can nearly always find them (and other various packing materials) on Gumtree. Go to their homepage, scroll down to the bottom and there is a category there called Freebies, I've nearly always found cardboard boxes here. Last time we moved, from Sydney to Brisbane we uses http://backloadingremovals.com.au and they supplied the boxes free Then collected them after we had unpacked, easily the best way to go Re: Where to get moving boxes? 13Apr 01, 2015 3:22 pm I must be a tight a.r.ss lol.. I have NEVER paid for cardboard boxes. Always get mine from the recycle cages that most shopping centres have. And as far as them being different sizes well... Most of the time I have lots of items that simply don't fit or need the same size boxes. Boxes are boxes and they will all pack in around each other no matter what the size.
