Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 10483Sep 30, 2014 7:28 pm tlblhayward I also went for two joins... the lack of symmetry with only one join would have driven me bananas! Ah that's exactly what I said and at least with the join not over the stove we can kind of cover it with some appliances or decor. Re: Porter Davis homes 10484Sep 30, 2014 7:29 pm Jackula I have posted the final chapter for our Porter Davis adventure: http://waldorf44oakleigh.blogspot.com.au/ But this is not the end, more to come on furniture ideas, landscaping and 3-month fixing. Overall, Porter Davis has really outdone themselves in building a great quality home as well as providing responsive after sales service. Congratulations Jackula... you must be relieved! You better keep your blog updated (and keep visiting this thread)... your contributions are always greatly appreciated. When's the house warming party? We want to get landscaping done so our guests don't bring in all the dust, early next year? You want to come? I'm glad to see PD have attended to most of the issues especially the major ones you listed. Your splash back looks great! Is it one piece? I couldn't see any joins. Cheers Thanks Joea, and thank you for being so supportive of our build I know it shouldn't be one piece, but I tried really hard to find the joint and couldn't find any. So I must conclude either I'm blind or it's one piece It's 4.05m. Very strange that you can't find a join but good for you! I hope ours is the same Re: Porter Davis homes 10489Sep 30, 2014 8:06 pm Hey Jackula. Congrats on reaching handover and good that PD were able to fix the main issues. That's great that you have one piece for the spashback. I have 3 pieces. Large middle and 2 smaller at sides. Tlblhayward, the asymmetry would have driven me up the wall too. . The 2 joins look glaringly obvious when the house is empty but once you get kitchen stuff in it's not too bad. Re: Porter Davis homes 10492Sep 30, 2014 9:52 pm For anyone that is interested. I have posted some photos of the Dunedin 29 display home at Mernda Villages. http://dunedin29.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/back-to-where-it-all-began.html Re: Porter Davis homes 10493Oct 01, 2014 5:55 pm Hi guys. Into our second week or enjoying our new home! Does anyone know what PD fix at the 3 month maintenance check? We have quite a few cracks in the joins on the window frames - which is normal due to settlement but can't wait to get them fixed! Hi @withlove - good luck with your colours. My advice would be to 90% sure on what you want before you go into the appt. Take with you any pictures, magazine cut outs etc that you like and ask your consultants opinion on your choices. Re: Porter Davis homes 10494Oct 02, 2014 9:57 am Just popping my head in here. We are maybe a month away from handover? I think or carpet went in this week and last week I saw our bath had been delivered. All the floor tiling has been done, lights are in and it is starting to take shape! So excited Re: Porter Davis homes 10495Oct 02, 2014 10:51 am Mali02 Just popping my head in here. We are maybe a month away from handover? With the cracks, i was told if you can fit a credit card into the gap, then they will fix it. At 3 month PD were great. Pretty much everything on my list got fixed, no matter how small. Re: Porter Davis homes 10497Oct 02, 2014 4:15 pm Is it usual for your BC to not be present at your tender and contract meetings? Seems a bit strange to me that on what I would class the most important day of the purchase process (contract day), that a stand in should be doing the paperwork and not my BC. Seems a bit strange to me that on what I would class the most important day of the purchase process (contract day), that a stand in should be doing the paperwork and not my BC. Yes I believe this is PD's process. The BC greets you and ensures all goes smoothly. You get a consultant for both Tender and Contract. As you can imagine the BC gets phone calls and emails all day he/she cannot be held up in meetings 9-1 then 1-5. Re: Porter Davis homes 10499Oct 05, 2014 7:18 pm Anyone on here that has or is building with PD. Quick question: Did you managed to get a different colour from the one you chose for the internal walls for internal doors, architraves and skirting? Cheers Re: Porter Davis homes 10500Oct 06, 2014 4:59 am joea Anyone on here that has or is building with PD. Quick question: Did you managed to get a different colour from the one you chose for the internal walls for internal doors, architraves and skirting? Cheers Ours is the same colour throughout. They can be a different colour as long as it is a shade of white Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12320 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74688 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
