Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 19, 2014 11:20 pm My partner and I have just signed all the contracts (land, building AND home loan all ticked!) for our very first house. It's fair to say I'm pretty excited!! We have bought in the new estate in Ipswich called Ecco Ripley and will be building with Sekisui House. As the land is still yet to be registered (hopefully by the start of next month) we have nothing else to do but pick all the pretty stuff. I will try and document our journey as much as I can on here. Very happy to hear from anyone who will also be building in this area. Let the fun begin! Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 2Sep 20, 2014 12:52 am Hi KateTodd, Fun indeed and best of luck. Get in touch if you have any workmanship problems along the way, which you may not have if your supervisor is very experienced in most trades, Leonardo_23 Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 3Sep 20, 2014 3:27 pm Hi Cait88, Congratulations! Glad to see another Sekisui build in the making! Which floor plan are you going with? We will be building a slightly modified Clareville in the Hunter Valley, NSW once our land is registered hopefully in November. Hope all goes to plan for you Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 4Sep 20, 2014 7:39 pm We have chosen the Cypress 1228, from the Arise Collection. However instead of 4 bedrooms we have turned one into a study and made the room smaller with no door. Which in turn has made the living room even bigger. We really like the 'open' feel. We have also chosen the "Vivid" facade which apparently is a new choice, which includes render on the front posts. Our land is only 375 square meters, which at first we were a bit disappointed with, but we need to keep reminding ourselves this is only our first house- not our forever house! We are booked in for our colour consultancy next Saturday - Yahoo!! Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 5Sep 20, 2014 7:48 pm Congrats Cait! Love seeing Queensland builds, can't wait to follow yours. We've just signed contracts today for land at Mango Hill in Brisbane, and put a deposit down with Coral Homes. Do you have any plans or photos to share? Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 8Sep 20, 2014 8:22 pm Looks great! Following along with interest! I think this is the first qld Sekisui build I've seen on H1 in recent times. Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 11Sep 20, 2014 11:15 pm I'd be cautious of the dark bricks too ! Particulary since you're out at Ipswich. Your colour choice is completely your own choice though, as you are the ones who have to live with it through the years. Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 12Sep 21, 2014 9:02 am Hi Cait88, congratulations on your build. We are building up the road at Springfield Lakes. It will be interesting to see how the Ripley area develops in the next few years. I too would be wary of using such a dark brick out this way, but definitely comes down to personal choice. Good luck with it all! Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 13Sep 28, 2014 9:13 pm Time for an update! We had our colour consult on the weekend (so many decisions!!) and I am now able to share our choices. Starting with the exterior: After feedback from PGH that dark bricks don't make much of a difference we have decided to stick with our original choice of Eclipse. See previous link for pic of brick. As a feature on the first bench it will be a "Snow Elm" laminate. The back cupboards top and bottom will be black. Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 17Nov 29, 2014 12:22 pm Love that dark brick colour. Going with white mortar? So you are shrinking Bed 2 and turning Bed2 into a study? I would have also considered shrinking Bed3 and change bed3 to study. And bring the bathroom and Bed2 forward, so you still creating more space for living. Maybe that would give a more open feeling (from study with no door) after guest coming in from the front door instead of walking through the corridor with walls on both side till they get to living room. But I guess it all comes down to how you would utilize the space and how often you use it in the house. Hope your build goes smooth. .....now the fun begins. Re: First Home in Ecco Ripley with Sekisui 18Jan 24, 2015 9:27 pm And we have PROGRESS!!! I have been super quiet over the Summer break and so has our building, however this week everything kicked off! After the slab being laid on Xmas eve we have been patiently waiting for something exciting to happen. Our framing is up and we hope to have a roof next week! If the rain stays away... The framing and roof goes up so quickly! So you get roofing next? Lucky! (We ended up with bricks before our roof... and that meant no roof for all this time in our case making our floors and timbers all swell from rain ) Thanks NativeZen! I can't wait to start landscaping, though it's going to be a while away yet. No movement on site yet as of the weekend.
