We chose to get all basic joinery in all our pantry and wardrobe/WIR areas, and plan to get a friend to replicate the display homes re functional pantries/wardrobes to avoid the exorbitant markups the builders apply. Sorry again but (annoyingly) the builder is right --- Re: Does this seem right to you? 5Sep 16, 2014 11:15 pm From the Pantry you have provided it looks like there is a vertical rail under the shelves to me. Was there anything in the specification about this because if you look in your contract I think you will find that the specification takes precedence over the drawings - not what most people think is drawings take precedence. Contracts are unfair in this regard. Good luck dsbuild, Leonardo_23 Re: Does this seem right to you? 6Sep 17, 2014 8:30 am Leonardo_23 From the Pantry you have provided it looks like there is a vertical rail under the shelves to me. I think that in both the drawing & in what's built, that line you see under each shelf is the wooden support at the back of the shelf against the wall. It's deceptive, in the drawing it does look a lot like the nicer-looking piece at the front as per the display home. I'd be annoyed; but I don't think you can do anything about it. The vertical support would probably have been needed anyway, as it's quite a long shelf. In the end I'd be telling myself it's just a pantry, and that the door's going to be closed 99.99% of the time ... Re: Does this seem right to you? 7Sep 17, 2014 9:25 am The lighter line that you see on the drawing is for the support at the back of the shelf. If it was at the front it would be a dark line like the front edge of the shelf. What has been built in your house and what is on the drawing are the same... the only thing I would think you might be able to push is the vertical support bar that is running in front of the shelves as that isn't shown on the drawings.
