Browse Forums Paving & Concreting Re: Cromelin, getnewlook or Miteq concrete sealers 3Sep 06, 2014 2:22 pm Quite simple to apply - just get a good roller. Be careful around pool - it is an oil. Oops - and get right one - ie if you have sandstone get the one for sandstone. Ring their 1800 number - very helpful. Re: Cromelin, getnewlook or Miteq concrete sealers 4Sep 08, 2014 10:33 am Hi ChrisM, Miteq here Just use us, you won't go wrong Seriously though, with the criteria below you have stated that you don't want to strip any type of sealer for re-application. This may mean to stay away from any type of surface sealer as after about the 2nd time you re-apply (ie; on the third application) you may want to strip back and start again. Of course this could be a fair way down the track in regards to life span and you very well may already be onto another place. Also consider surface sealers are not breathable and can delaminate in certain types of conditions. If around a pool area or wet area also consider the slip issues of these. The other option is an enhancer. More costly, will enrich most stones and breathable but a good option to consider. As for applying using a contractor, good choice. They will give a square metre rate and work from there. It will be a supply and install price for you. If you choose us, please note we have approved applicators that we have "screened" to ensure there work is of the utmost highest standard. Either way please feel free to contact us direct and we can answer any and all questions for you. Regardless if you choose us or not we want to make sure that people in this industry are better armed with information to make the correct decision. Too many times we come across rectification work that could have been avoided with the right information. Re: Cromelin, getnewlook or Miteq concrete sealers 5Sep 11, 2014 6:47 pm Thanks saint mike and Miteq, Miteq I understand what your saying regarding not going a topical sealer if I'm not wanting to strip previous applications but is it possible to get a wet look or darken the colour of concrete with a penetrating sealer? The end result I'm after is to rejuvenate/darken slight weather damaged colour in the concrete but also ensuring a consistent finish and ongoing look, as some concrete is covered and other parts are not. Also In terms of reapplication what time frame does the product last? Thanks again Re: Cromelin, getnewlook or Miteq concrete sealers 6Sep 15, 2014 9:43 am ChrisM Thanks saint mike and Miteq, Miteq I understand what your saying regarding not going a topical sealer if I'm not wanting to strip previous applications but is it possible to get a wet look or darken the colour of concrete with a penetrating sealer? Also In terms of reapplication what time frame does the product last? Thanks again Hi Chris, The sealer you may be after is called an enhancer. It is designed to penetrate the surface but enhance and enrich the colour of most stones. As noted it is a more expensive product to use but totally breathable and will not alter the slip resistance of the current product. It should be noted that on more porous products enhancers can struggle to give an effective "wet look" as sometimes the raw material that is designed to enhance can fall through the product and not give the desired result. Perhaps a trial would be best in this situation to ensure you are happy with the end result and the product suits your needs. As for time frame or life expectancy, we recommend a re-coat around the 2-3yr mark. This will ensure any areas of wear are given a refresh and push the life of the sealer to around the year mark. Most of our sealers give a life span of around 3-5yrs without re-application. Hope the above helps. How can I go about organising the product your describing for a test area? And could you advise a cost per sqm as I'd be looking to have this job done from start to Finish by a professional. Thanks again Re: Cromelin, getnewlook or Miteq concrete sealers 8Sep 16, 2014 9:05 am ChrisM Thanks Jarrod I was under the impression wet look sealers were all topical? Thanks again Hey Chris, All wet look sealers are topical, you're correct. The enhancer is a different beast in that it is designed to give the same look but remain below the surface and breathable. It acts in the same way a normal penetrating sealer does but with the difference of enhancing the stone. Happy to organise a sample for you. Send me some info to my email, jarrod@miteq.com.au and I'll respond there. Make sure you give me sqm to seal, type of stone, if it's around a pool area, location and I'll get back to you. I'll organise a sample as well. Jarrod Re: Cromelin, getnewlook or Miteq concrete sealers 9Sep 25, 2014 3:55 pm Not many if any sealers will last 3 years and all topical sealers on the market should be removed before another application is due . You would not peel over flaky paint would you ? its the same with exterior sealers which is why semi penetrating such as our SmartSeal sealers are so good . The reason we seal every year is mostly due to UV which is very harsh in Australia and worse in New Zealand . We recommend re-sealing decorative jobs every 1-2 years as it is much easier to maintain seal than colour . In the case of Smartseal the procedure for resealing is water blast clean and then apply another coat . We dont really make a wet look sealer as such more so a gloss sealer with 25% solids or 34% any more and the surface becomes slippery which is one disadvantage of most wet look sealers . Feel free to ask me any questions or pull a technical sheet from my website www.getnewlook.com.au Jas Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10985 I couldn't attached the photo for some reason. Here is the link to the photo https://pin.it/79jwdMp 1 3138 |
