Congratulations on moving to construction! I am really enjoying following your thread. You are just ahead of me so I can see what is going to happen next. This is where I saw how long the wait for brickies is at the moment! Looking forward to seeing your brickwork starting. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 52Aug 31, 2014 5:02 pm Was just reading your thread Kelsey78 and I am glad to see I am not the only one buying furniture for a house that isn't built yet. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 53Sep 01, 2014 1:20 am We're just ahead of you. Building with DAH also. Our slab was laid last week. I understand how you felt when everything was dragging on after the demolition. I really had expected everything to start after our demo and it just kept dragging on. Got a big surprise today. Hubby had taken the day of work to seal the retaining wall that was built last week and the machinery showed up to level the block and later on in the day our portaloo arrived. He sent me a text message with a photo as I was at work. I got so excited I let out a little squeal, I then had to explain to my colleagues that my excitement was a result of seeing a photo of our portaloo Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 55Sep 02, 2014 7:47 pm Hi Tanyaw, Just wondering if the bricks you chose (Amaretto) are part of DAH's standard range? I really like them but can't remember seeing them when I went to DAH Central a couple of weeks ago... Cheers! No ReenReen they are not part of the standard range. We couldn't decide on bricks so we went to the Austral showroom and saw them there. We really wanted grey bricks to match our grey render out the front and there were really only two options the Ameretto that we went for and there was also a slightly darker one. As they are a new range the only showroom that had a display wall was Malaga although there may be more now. The bricks cost us about $500 but the big cost was changing the mortar from cream to white which cost us about $2000. We spent ages trying to get Dale Alcock to use the mortar that Austral used on the display wall, it was a light grey mortar and looked stunning. Unfortunately we just had to give up on it as Dales said the only way we could have it is if we agreed to not have the structural warrantee anymore. No way I was going to do that!!! Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 58Oct 07, 2014 12:33 am Quite a lot has happened since I posted last. We have a slab, bricks and frames all waiting to go. Bricks were delivered last Monday while we were away on holidays. Lucky I have a friend who lives nearby so she text me on Monday to let me know. Now just waiting on a brickie (along with everyone else it seems ) We were lucky a few weekends ago we had a lovely weekend and had some friends over for a bit of a slab party . Lots of kids running around in black sand! They had a ball I really think I am going to have to stop driving by everyday otherwise the wait is just going to get too depressing. How long have other people had to wait on brickies????
