Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 21Aug 18, 2014 10:44 pm Ohh you've got selections on the 21st, how exciting do you know what you're going to go with? Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 22Aug 20, 2014 5:26 pm Yes Deluxes..Oh my gosh..my selections are tomorrow so Asked my colleagues to give me some advice as to what they prefer in colours. Most said they preferred a dark coloured kitchen bench as opposed to light. Bathroom tiles probably a light colour on the walls and darker on the floor and kitchen cabinetry will probably be light. The dilemma will be choosing which light or dark colours. If anyone has any suggestions for me please feel free to offer. I'm nervous as to what to do!!! The only thing I've decided on is the colour bond roof. It will be monument. I do also like mosaic tiles for splash back but I'm not sure how difficult they are to keep clean. Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 24Aug 20, 2014 6:02 pm Excellent! Monument is lovely... we have monument gutters and fascias to match our black roof, but the monument is such a nice soft black, I love it. We have gone charcoal grey with black benchtops (a bit different I know) but I love the moody, modern look of dark kitchens. We have a very light filled open space, so luckily it should work, also with a mosaic/stackstone splashback. Depending on your floor coverings, you can do whatever you like! If you have light floors, you can balance it with some darker accents and vice versa. The BEST bit of advice I got from an interior designer was "Neutrals don't always mean whites". Blacks, greys, taupe, beige - all neutral too. So I had a bit of fun with it! Have a great time and hopefully the consultant you get will offer some advice in the areas where you are stuck or unsure Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 25Aug 21, 2014 7:42 am Deluxes..thanks so much for your input and advice, I really appreciate it. Woohoo..today is the day! I've been playing around with colour touch website just trying to get some inspiration for my exterior and I've got a better idea now so we shall see how I go. I do like my beiges, latte's, and wood looks. I'm liking the sound of your moody dark selections as well for the modern look. Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 26Aug 21, 2014 8:02 pm latte and wood -- I like what you like. Then I'm going to add accents of green ... I LOVE green. Lime! And maybe a splash of aqua. And a dash of fuchsia. And a smidge of vibrant orange maybe. lemmee think, have I forgotten anything, or confused anyone? Yes me! Oh gosh, I love colour, my problem is I am like a bee and attracted to everything I'm going to be a real basket case with selection. I'm no help to anyone, especially myself So tell us, how did it go????? Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 27Aug 21, 2014 8:23 pm wow Tomcat...what a full on day. I did have some trouble making decisions and was at the appointment for 4 hours, I'm pretty sure the lady got sick of me in the end! haha. I'm going to have to upload some photos when I learn how. It's surprising at how the extra items all add up and before you know it you're budget is way up there. Tomcat, I've got the same problem as you, I love colours, and I had to restrain myself and leave the colours for my accessories Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 28Aug 23, 2014 12:57 am Nah, she would have loved you. itsvreally nice to help people. Oh what fun, sounds great. Can't wait to see your choices Yes, definitely much safer to add accents that aren't permanent.. When we moved in here 20 years ago (1950s 'austere' home) I had the bright idea to paint the walls pink! It gets worse, we got pink Wool (expensive/top quality) carpet too Some ppl can do it though. My mum was awesomely good at making bits and bobs work. Super resourceful and GREAT eclectic taste. Some ppl just have that talent. It's taken me a while to realise I don't. But I love quirk. When I try it looks like vomit Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 29Aug 28, 2014 5:14 pm Ninka, looking forward to see the pictures of your selections. Is demolition starting on Monday? Very exciting time! First house - Statesman Greenock (modified) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66876 Second house - Fairmont Grand Design (modified) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=100789 Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 30Aug 29, 2014 6:45 am Hahaha..Tomkat..you're funny. Vladmari, my demolition was postponed as they are really busy, but the latest is that Safework SA will have a look for asbestos then when its all clear the demo company move in, that's the legal process. So at this stage its scheduled for next weekend, which will be SPRING!!! Yay Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 31Sep 07, 2014 5:38 pm Well..helloooo..people's. Hope you're all well. My house is finally demolished and next week the surveyor will come to measure and peg, documents go in for subdivision, then it will be a matter of SA water coming to put in a new meter. Then I will wait for the new title and all the fun and games will begin! I'm so looking forward to it..I cannot wait Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 32Sep 08, 2014 12:11 pm Great news! Hope it's not long before you start. Make sure they get the right block--how does this happen? Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 33Oct 25, 2014 8:06 am Hi everyone. Things have been very slow the last couple of months, a hold up with the bank and DAC on transferring titles following my subdivision. Good news though, my water meter and sewer have been put in so I can only assume it won't be too long now. I received a phone call that all the necessary council approvals have now been completed so that means the ball is slowly starting to roll..Yeah..bring it on baby! Hopefully I will have something to look at by Christmas Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 34Oct 25, 2014 2:43 pm Fingers crossed for you Ninka. Once they start things will fly along, until the January break, although some tradies return to work quite early. Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 35Jan 28, 2015 10:39 am Hi everyone, I've finally got some good news! After the third round of council approvals and amendments due to small discrepancies in measurements and other setbacks we finally have the go ahead and been 'released to construction.' What a funny term that is! Nevertheless I hope to see some serious progress from now on. Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 36Jan 29, 2015 7:38 pm Great news! I remember being so excited when we received that news. Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 37Feb 05, 2015 5:47 pm Yes Lucinda, very exciting! The porta loo was delivered a couple days ago so it can't be too long now but we're heading into a spell of very hot weather so I'm not expecting too much. The block next door will start at a similar time and have their loo already as well. The builders sign is up and I have my building supervisors name..yay! Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 38Mar 03, 2015 4:54 pm Hi everyone. Can I just ask those of you who built with Statesman homes in Adelaide were they generally on time with the builds? I Hope to have my footings done in a few days time, they are finally doing the trenches and I'm just wondering how long it generally takes once the footings are down. I haven't Been given a completion time. Does that generally happen? Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 39Mar 03, 2015 7:01 pm It can depend on where you are and the availability of tradespeople. Construction Services (including Statesman, Hickinbotham and SA Housing Centre) do seem to go rather fast once they start, however. Ours, Hickies, went up with lightning speed; a Statesman two doors down almost as fast; another Statesman down the road started in about November and the owners moved in last week; a SA Housing Centre build across the road started on Christmas Eve with nothing during the January holiday but is now almost ready for lockup--compare with one a few doors up by another builder which is still only at framework stage; and a Hickies next door has had site preparation, trenches, slab, next round of trenches and piping, and the bricks and framework delivered in one week (the tradies predict it will go up just as fast as the one across the road). All the best for your build--most of all, enjoy the process and if things get stressful remind yourself of how good it will be living in your own home that you watched being built. Re: Hampstead Build with Statesman in Adelaide 40Apr 07, 2015 10:38 am Thanks Lucinda. Our slab finally went down a couple of weeks ago and now all the timber and bricks have been delivered so I'm getting very excited and can't wait for it all to start taking shape. The last couple of days we've had a fair bit of rain and with the Easter break there's been no progress but hopefully in the next day or two we will see a frame up.
