We visited the house today to do a couple of jobs ie. fit the aircon slot box vents and put some door stops in.

The aircon/heating slot box vents are in and look good

The render was also finished to the front of the house and retaining wall. The colour is Dulux Champignon. The renderer left the leftover colour for us.

My kitchen without all the rubbish everywhere. The pendant lights are still to be lowered and the protective film is still to be taken off the top of the rangehood.

MalSannie - I forgot to ask hubby again! The app we use to access it is called Q.See so I'm sure that's the brand of the system.

I have to meet the new builder and the painter on site tomorrow morning at 7am to run through some things.

Certificate of Occupancy inspection booked for tomorrow afternoon - fingers crossed everything passes.

The surveyor's inspection for the Certificate of Occupancy was cancelled today as there are MORE things to be done before we can be issued with the certificate. Pi$$ed off does not begin to describe how we are feeling right now

I am hoping that things can be fixed and the surveyor can come out again in the next day or two. I have curtains and blinds being installed tomorrow as well as furniture booked for delivery on Wednesday and I WILL NOT reschedule these things again.

On the plus side the painter finished today. There are a few things we want him to do but are happy for him to return later to do these. He works for the new builder that has partially taken over the build so we know he will be back.

The electrician is coming tomorrow to install a sub floor ventilation kit under the house. When the electrician is finished there shouldn't be any more trades through the inside of the house. So when the electrician is finished I plan to go through and clean the place as there has been a bit of dirt dragged through after the builder's clean was done last week.

On the topic of cleaners they left a little shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom shower. Kinda cute...

I'm shattered

Feels like we have run a marathon and just as we approach the finish line someone moves the finish line back a few hundred metres

I always try to look at the positives so I'm trying to concentrate on the curtains and blinds tomorrow and that I can spend most of the day cleaning the floors in preparation of the furniture delivery; we have our new fridge and dining table coming on Wednesday.

I just got back from some retail therapy at Ikea

I bought a rug for my step-son's bedroom and a few bits and pieces ie. dustpan, non slip rug mat thingy, a mat for between the garage and house, cutlery tray etc.

Retail therapy felt good

Can't believe you were so close only for it to be snatched away again. On a positive note, your houselooks fantastic and it's so very close to finished. You'll be in soon and, hopefully, all the drama will be behind you and you can enjoy life in your new home.

On a side note, just wondering where did you get the basket/shelf thing that is on your shower rail? I've been trying to find something similar for ages!

The basket on the shower rail actually came with the shower rail, I didn't purchase it separately. Have you tried Howard's Storage World? I have a feeling they stock something like this.

Ikea is great! I'm not a huge fan of the furniture but I love all the bits and pieces they have. I picked up a nice creamy throw rug for the new lounge too

So further delays today... It appears that the surveyor can't come out tomorrow because allegedly Wednesdays are his day off. So he is booked to come first thing Thursday.

I'm better news we had our curtains and blinds installed today. So happy with them

I never realised how hard it is to take decent photos of curtains and blinds when they're hanging, especially with an iPhone! Apologies for the crap photos, I will try to take better ones with a real camera.

These are the curtains in the master bedroom. Blockout curtain to the rear and sheer curtain in front. I love these! The photos really don't do them justice.

The bathroom has a roller blond in a taupe colour. My step-son's room and the spare bedroom (which we are using as study) has the same roller blind.

In the laundry we opted for a single sheer roller blind to filter light as required

The theatre room has a sheer roller blind inside the frame and heavy blockout curtains the full width of the wall. These are a grey colour but the warm lighting makes them look brown in this photo

For the two windows on one side of the Mancave we chose dark sheer rollers inside the frame with a very dark charcoal blockout roller on top. These work well against the grey walls.

There are many windows that we didn't buy coverings for. Unsure whether we will or not. Many of the other windows are up high or are quite private so I guess when were living there we will decide.

Our fence guy was back today and should hopefully be finished by the end of the week.

Love the curtains. I'm also doing a sheer on the inside (like hotel rooms) but I hadn't seen anyone else do that before. Looks fantastic.
