Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 21Aug 12, 2014 3:32 pm So it didn't last long (Saturday in fact haha) as hubby realised there was going to be an invoice coming pretty soon and as I am the 'keeper of the e-mails' he figured he may as well just show me the progress, which was, brickwork almost complete. Sure enough got invoice earlier today for completed brickwork so now we move on to 'commencement of linings' i.e. drywall/gyprock. Hope everyone is doing well and gregandjules hope this weather clears up so you guys can get started on your slab prep! Chat soon all! Just finished the colors appointment recently... Anyone else from release 13... ? Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 24Sep 14, 2014 6:43 pm We finally got slabbed, site supervisor called me on fri to say they were going to do the slab next week but ended up doing it on sat, went down for a sticky today and now its all in perspective, worked out where our dogs will sleep and play now, so finally after so many false starts and delays we have hit the start, my guess is we move in around easter 2015 Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 27Sep 28, 2014 4:41 pm Looks like we get the frames done next week, ss called me fri arvo to tell me the frames would probably be delivered sat sometime, hope no one pinches them! Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 28Oct 06, 2014 10:41 am Bottom floor framing done, 1st floor framing this week, went up there and had a sticky beak yesterday, noticed windows and stuff onsite also, so I guess they will install those this week too, glad things are finally happening! Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 30Oct 09, 2014 11:57 am Hi guys yep reached lockup by Labour Day long weekend, bottom floor tiling looks to be all done & although the kitchen was meant to be done last Wed I believe it was done yesterday or today. Garage door booked for today apparently. Will prob have a sticky on Sat so might see you gregandjules! Steely, am so sorry to hear about such lack of progress, really hope you get answers soon! Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 31Oct 10, 2014 8:20 pm Steely21, builders have various reasons for not commencing build, the problem is they dont tell us the reasons, mainly they wont start because of the cost of materials and subbies, have a look on the builders delays thread to get some idea about this, if you havent signed the contract yet you might be in luck, unfortunately if you are like me and many others you have already signed the contract so its too late, I just wish they would be up front about these delays so we could at least plan our future! Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 32Oct 15, 2014 9:28 pm Just been informed things will start in early November. Its good to finally have some confirmation. Seems like the delays were a combination of Council and the builder needing to build all 18 terraces as one project. So everything needed to be sorted for all 18 before anything started and few of the plans held the rest up. Sure hope is worth the wait. Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 33Oct 20, 2014 10:52 am There you go Steely I'm sure it will be worth the wait looking forward to putting faces to names once we all move in! gregandjules, your place looks like it's coming along great guns now? jamaine thinks early Dec for us but I feel like mid-Nov - either way, Xmas barbie, my place Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 34Nov 05, 2014 9:41 am Frames almost finished, brickie has been onsite this week, will have to check it out on sat! Finished colors, tiles and carpets. No update on land registration yet. I assume its not gonna happen this year. I set my mind and heart to 2015 Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 37Dec 02, 2014 3:19 pm I just bought a lot in release 15 in Thronton. My builder has charged me extra $2000 as my slab class has to be upgraded from M to H1. Does someone have the similar experience? My lot is on William Hart Crescent. Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 39Dec 02, 2014 3:25 pm psvk Which builder... ? Wisdom Homes If everyone has M class slab, why I have H1 class? Why the soil is different? Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 40Dec 02, 2014 4:44 pm Did you check in the contract document about slab requirements.. ? For home and land packages(esp in Thornton), both landcom and builders have pre-understanding on slab and other basic requirements(from my experience and I could be wrong).. So the contract should address the actual slab requirement of the chosen package. Read the contract twice where the slab is mentioned.
