Long time stalker, first time poster! I've been following your thread for a while now as Ben Trager is on our short list of builders, we love one of their designs and don't mind the building process they use, although your roof debacle is putting us off. I understand they use three tile suppliers, can you please PM your tile supplier and style for you lighter porcelain floor tiles? Cheers Ted Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Tiling finished. Looks gre 586Jul 27, 2014 5:51 pm Thanks for the advice on grout sealing. We're going to seal the porcelain tiles anyway so we may as well try to protect the grout. Anyway, the plasterboarders were there today finishing off the ceilings, ready for painting again, so we got a couple of better pictures of the feature tiles. Main bathroom ones. Looks gre 587Jul 27, 2014 6:00 pm Tiling does looks great indeed! That main bathroom feature is stunning. On the shower hobs, I actually prefer them. I know the shower will never leak and sometimes I sit on the shower floor (childhood habits are hard to kill). If I sit on the drain I can have a little bath! haha Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Tiling finished. Looks gre 588Jul 27, 2014 7:40 pm PanRaptor Tiling does looks great indeed! Looks gre 589Jul 27, 2014 8:12 pm Main bathroom feature tile is just beautiful! I can really see the detail in the latest pic. I had light grout floor tiles at my last place - we had them professionally cleaned before selling. I asked the cleaner the best way to clean them and why my grout got so dirty so quickly. He said I had been using too much floor cleaner/ detergent. He recommended the best way to clean them was with "White Spirits" diluted in water (you get that from Bunnings) - I found that quite stinky but I also think just plain white vinegar in water would do the same thing (the vinegar smell disappears very quickly). And to then go over them with a water only mop. It's the detergent sitting in the grout that makes the dirt stick to it. I don't know about porcelain though - our tiles were ceramic. The dark tiles with light grout looks gorgeous. Definitely highlights the texture but in a stylish and subtle way. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Tiling finished. Looks gre 590Jul 27, 2014 8:15 pm PanRaptor - our toddler likes doing the exact same thing! lol After having hobless in a rental and having ongoing plumbing issues - I agree, for that exact reason. But I'm getting more practical the older I get, I think the hobless does look very good. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Tiling finished. Looks gre 592Jul 27, 2014 8:33 pm You are absolutely correct in saying that Melsie. lol Enjo probably would work well too as that is "no detergent" isn't it? Less is more. Looks gre 594Jul 27, 2014 8:41 pm Oh good I thought someone would right back and say no and I would be like damn .that was my excuse only to mop once aweek. Lol. Enjo is without chemicals . It keeps my bathrooms cleaner for longer and there are 8 of us . As for living room tiles they are light porslin nothing keeps them clean .I just shut the blinds other wise they send me insane and im not moping everyday Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Tiling finished. Looks gre 595Jul 27, 2014 9:36 pm I don't mop my wet areas too often. If i do it's hot water and little floor cleaner. I've used a grout clean from bunnings once with grout cleaning brush. I really liked the results and will be doing it again this week Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Tiling finished. Looks gre 596Jul 27, 2014 9:46 pm Is that tile and grout cleaner . White spray bottle . $15 . I must get myself a grout cleaner brush . I been using old tooth brush . One of my kids thought they would colour in some of my grout in led pencil . Thought water would clean it . Used the cleaner and it came off . Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Soakwells & Paving Prep 597Jul 29, 2014 9:07 pm BT are keeping up the pace. Soakwells delivered, driveway and alfresco have been prepped for paving and the electrician looks to have made a start on fitting socket & switches (no pics of this) How big are those soakwells? Is there any shading (eaves or trees)? If the sun hits a window directly it doesn't matter too much if it's double or single… 1 12988 9 25932 Congratulations!
