Such a small world! This made me laugh as I had just been teaching some cyber-safety lessons to my year 10s about not putting too much information on the internet that allows people to identify you. I think it might be a case of do as I say not as I do! I had been getting frustrated at things not moving forward with construction due to some site issues . Although not resolved I am going to get a phone call from my site manager on Monday to make a time to meet on site to see if we can get it all sorted out. Hopefully we can then be moved into the construction phase. Also thought it was worth mentioning how great my pre-start consultant was. Can't wait to return the survey for pre-start with some positive feedback. I found the process quite stressful and she never seemed to get annoyed and has always responded to questions very quickly. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 44Jul 26, 2014 2:45 pm Love your colour selection Just wondering where did you find a sample of the colour bond roof? As I can only find paper versions not the actual tin? Thanks, tanyaw Quote: When we built they had a 4 for no more package which included smart wiring, floor coverings, air con and painting Wow navs that is good value!! So here are our choices from today. I love white and grey but was really worried that the house would be to cold looking so we did try to add some other colour. It is so easy to doubt decisions that you make, so it is nice to hear that! Quote: Just wondering where did you find a sample of the colour bond roof? The sample you see in the picture was from the showroom at Dale Alcock central so I didn't get to keep it. At the moment I just have a paper sample to show when someone asks about our external colours. Would be nice to actually get a piece of the colour bond as I think there is a difference between looking at it as metal versus on the paper sample. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - will we ever start build 46Jul 26, 2014 11:43 pm I hope your issues get sorted quickly. looking forward to hear an update Dale Alcock Build in Honeywood Our Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70204&p=1154102#p1154102 Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - will we ever start build 47Aug 03, 2014 12:27 am Site issues still unresolved We have asked for a survey showing the current position of our fences with the correct position marked on as well. We just want to see how badly positioned the fences are and if it is worth fixing them before we start building. Unfortunately they have done two surveys both of which did not show this information. We are now waiting for them to try a third time to get us the correct information. We have an APG house being build two houses down from where we are currently living. They demolished the old house about 2 weeks before we demolished ours and they are currently putting up the roof. I feel like I have lost all enthusiasm for building which is a real shame as I had always wanted to build our own house. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - will we ever start build 48Aug 06, 2014 6:23 am Following your build sorry to hear about your delays.. but I'm sure you'd get that enthusiasm back when things start to progress again. I guess delay are almost inevitable in this industry.. My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - will we ever start build 49Aug 31, 2014 12:18 am Wooohooo!! We are in construction. Cant believe how excited I am to be in construction. We finally have power and our boundary fences have all been sorted out. Power [img][/img] I am really looking forward to things starting now. We were given a time frame of 30-36 weeks for the house to be built, 36 weeks falls on the week of my birthday. What an incredible birthday present that would be to get the keys to our new home. Spoke to our construction liaison manager for the first time last week and it turns out she went to high school with my husband . She was also the manager for my friends who have just had key handover and they said she was wonderful, so feeling pretty positive at the moment. My friends also raved about how good their site supervisor was so I really have my fingers crossed that we get him. I am really going to try and not get so stressed out in this part of the build. I know there are going to be hold ups during the build (I keep hearing stories of 8-10 weeks for brickies) but at least now there is nothing I have to do except be patient (famous last words). On another positive we went to check out a end of lease sale on the weekend and bought a dining table for the new house. Only problem is our current house is tiny and this table seems MASSIVE. The store was due to close the next day so when we said sorry it is too early for us to buy it now (even though we loved it) the lady offered it to us at such a ridiculous price we couldn't say no. When the guys can to deliver it they spent ages trying to manoeuvre it through the door. Congratulations on moving to construction! It's such a great feeling! You shouldn't be waiting too much longer until your slab now. I hope the timeline given by DAH is accurate. Who knows if they finish early you could be celebrating you birthday in your new home! Congratulations on moving to construction! I am really enjoying following your thread. You are just ahead of me so I can see what is going to happen next. This is where I saw how long the wait for brickies is at the moment! Looking forward to seeing your brickwork starting. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 52Aug 31, 2014 4:02 pm Was just reading your thread Kelsey78 and I am glad to see I am not the only one buying furniture for a house that isn't built yet. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 53Sep 01, 2014 12:20 am We're just ahead of you. Building with DAH also. Our slab was laid last week. I understand how you felt when everything was dragging on after the demolition. I really had expected everything to start after our demo and it just kept dragging on. Got a big surprise today. Hubby had taken the day of work to seal the retaining wall that was built last week and the machinery showed up to level the block and later on in the day our portaloo arrived. He sent me a text message with a photo as I was at work. I got so excited I let out a little squeal, I then had to explain to my colleagues that my excitement was a result of seeing a photo of our portaloo Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 55Sep 02, 2014 6:47 pm Hi Tanyaw, Just wondering if the bricks you chose (Amaretto) are part of DAH's standard range? I really like them but can't remember seeing them when I went to DAH Central a couple of weeks ago... Cheers! Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 56Sep 02, 2014 7:02 pm Quote: Just wondering if the bricks you chose (Amaretto) are part of DAH's standard range? No ReenReen they are not part of the standard range. We couldn't decide on bricks so we went to the Austral showroom and saw them there. We really wanted grey bricks to match our grey render out the front and there were really only two options the Ameretto that we went for and there was also a slightly darker one. As they are a new range the only showroom that had a display wall was Malaga although there may be more now. The bricks cost us about $500 but the big cost was changing the mortar from cream to white which cost us about $2000. We spent ages trying to get Dale Alcock to use the mortar that Austral used on the display wall, it was a light grey mortar and looked stunning. Unfortunately we just had to give up on it as Dales said the only way we could have it is if we agreed to not have the structural warrantee anymore. No way I was going to do that!!! Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR - In construction 58Oct 06, 2014 11:33 pm Quite a lot has happened since I posted last. We have a slab, bricks and frames all waiting to go. Bricks were delivered last Monday while we were away on holidays. Lucky I have a friend who lives nearby so she text me on Monday to let me know. Now just waiting on a brickie (along with everyone else it seems ) We were lucky a few weekends ago we had a lovely weekend and had some friends over for a bit of a slab party . Lots of kids running around in black sand! They had a ball I really think I am going to have to stop driving by everyday otherwise the wait is just going to get too depressing. How long have other people had to wait on brickies????
