Hi all
what goes on during a walkthrough nearing the end of the building process? Are there any tips of things that you should look out for when inspecting?

$1.50 per sq meter (inc gst).......we're with the same builder as you, all good so far. There will definitely be too much going on during final inspection though for us not to miss something. I think <$400 to have an expert, who is not emotionally attached inspect such a large investment is worthwhile. I could just see us arguing over something silly like a paint splash only to miss something like a misaligned wall. Cheers Re: Walkthrough inspections 16Jun 13, 2007 10:38 am At what stage is this done, and if they find any problems, will this delay the date of the handover? I would like to get into my home ASAP!!
Also, there are a lot of different inspections on that site. What inspections do you think are necessary? We did not get a frame inspection. I am thinking we will just get this one Pre Handover Inspection with Written Report** $ 495:00 Our Adenbrook home was completed in September. Re: Walkthrough inspections 17Jun 13, 2007 10:52 am Aaurora,
I will have the pre plaster inspection and possibly a handover. Kevin suggested the pre-plaster as the most important to me yesterday. Matt Re: Walkthrough inspections 18Jun 13, 2007 11:29 am LMAO, I just called up a home inspection place in Brissie and spoke to a guy about getting this done.
He proceeded to say that anyone offering New Home Inspections, or Handover Inspections are just crap and not to bother wasting your money on something like that. He said all they do is ask the builder whats wrong with the place, the builder says "nothing" and away they go. So now I am really confused He said it would only be worthwile getting someone to inspect it if they were a certified engineer........ Our Adenbrook home was completed in September. Re: Walkthrough inspections 19Jun 13, 2007 11:37 am That seems strange - trying to not get business!
We had some warranty issues with our unit - we had a professional inspector look at the place. He prepared a report that identified the defects and specifically how they did not comply with the relevant building code/guidelines. We gave this to the builder and he fixed everything straight away (even some items that were not defects - nice guy!) You have mandatory building inspections and privately engaged building inspections. The difference between the two comes down to inspecting the building so it's safe and… 3 18058 |
