Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Land in Doreen, Melbourne? 52Oct 24, 2008 9:10 am We've been living in Flaxen Hills road for 2 months now and love it! apart from having to look at that huge grey monstrosity that will one day be Safeway!
Our block is 800sm and we paid just under $160,000 for it but that was nearly 2 years ago now, I expect the blocks have gone up. The road that leads to the shops and school is regularly used by a group of keep fit fanatics (even though the signs say keep out ) who think nothing of shouting to each other at 6am without regard to people who might be sleeping ! Apart from the strange keep fit fanatics we really do love living here, we don't have little uns but there are plenty of parks for those that do. I'll be glad when the waterways have been properly landscaped but there are still lots of nice places to walk or cycle. Thats great news that Yan Yean may one day be a dual carriage way,, its definitely looking a bit worse for wear!! It is across the road from the safeway complex in the first photo. The school will be Laurimar Primary School. I have just enrolled my daughter there, so it is definately Laurimar Primary. Yeah I thought it would be called Laurimar Primary School but the big State Government sign up on site states it is Doreen North Primary School.. I much prefer Laurimar Primary School so I hope that is right... in fact I wish the suburb was called Laurimar as it sounds a bit nicer than Doreen!!! Re: Land in Doreen, Melbourne? 57Oct 29, 2008 9:12 pm tilly Hi Cleishy, Was the Principal confident of a Term 1 '09 opening??? We drove out to Doreen last Saturday and definately saw the sign saying "Laurimar Primary" too. Hi Tilly Yeah, It is definately open for term 1 09. Enrolled my daughter today. She is in grade 3, I think there are about 14 grade 3's so far. About 45 preps though. Looks like it will be a great school. Are you thinking of sending Kids there? Re: Land in Doreen, Melbourne? 58Oct 29, 2008 9:26 pm Cleishy The principal said they were going to call it Doreen North, but it was put to a vote and Laurimar Primary School won. It's definately Laurimar PS, it is on the logo and school uniform etc... That's great then... much nicer name.. a great asset for the estate... they should remove that sign then saying it is doreen north primary... My son is nearly 10 months old, so it will be a while before I send him there and hopefully there is some more secondary schools in the area before he needs one.. well that is still 12 years or so away for that.. Not much in this responce. My suggestion is, what are you looking to build and why. This will all be impacted by the local councils planning scheme. Familiarise yourself… 6 5868 Hi All, We have recently purchased a sloping block (3.5m fall building envelope, 6m overall). Just wondering if you know of any good builders that you would recommend for… 0 1776 I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45560 |
