Re: Front door size for 14m narrow lot 9Jul 09, 2014 11:00 am We only have a 12.5m frontage and we have gone for a 1200mm door! We do have a portico as well but even if we didnt I would love it and dont think it looks wierd at all. Pictures on my thread if you want to have a look Re: Front door size for 14m narrow lot 10Jul 09, 2014 11:11 am To be honest if you have a garage door that will be around 6m for a double. The 300mm diff between the min and max door sizes will not be noticed. I would go the larger door, especially since its a double storey Re: Front door size for 14m narrow lot 11Jul 09, 2014 12:11 pm lovepub any idea what proportion should the ENTRY door be compare to the whole house width? Very simple. whatever YOU like. People give too much creedence to this feng shui dribble. build what suits you. Re: Front door size for 14m narrow lot 12Jul 09, 2014 2:13 pm Qebtel, thanks for being understanding if other cultures. Agree that one should build as they please, but no need to dis others information just because you are not interested. Re: Front door size for 14m narrow lot 13Jul 09, 2014 7:27 pm For a big house I personally would go bigger door as it would look and feel more grand.... I only have a 12.5 frontage and have gone with the widest door I could get for my houseplan which is 1020 and glad I did! Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! I just found out today from my draftsman that there is a new regulation for SMALL LOT CODE in Queensland/Brisbane. Not certain what it is yet, but effective from July 1st that the setback from the boundary (left and right) are 1 metre now. PS: not exactly sure, but will google it up and hopefully this may be useful information for other new house builders. If this is the case, I think I am going to have wide door plus wider entrance hallway... Re: Front door size for 14m narrow lot 15Jul 10, 2014 2:08 am I would not be too concerned about it as a 1m set back will mean habitable rooms. The garage side would be a boundary wall and the house would step in behind that. My block is 15m wide and I have 1.5m setback and 1m where the walls have no windows. Just look at plans that are meant for 14m blocks. Thanks again for this information. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 8343 Current door width is approx 2700, looking to have double doors fitted 820-820. What size does the frame need to be before door jamb? Thanks 0 3615 Bigger the better for storage for me IMO. But I guess it's harder to tell the cost/benefit in your example - mainly the 'cost'? If you go 700mm, what are you doing extra… 2 1957 |
