I just wanted to find out some information if anyone knows it.
We are about to have our lawn installed.
After reading info here and online I have asked for Empire Zoysia but the guy at the nursery had not heard of it (thats a worry) but he was going to look into it for us.
Well I went to the nursery yesterday to pick out the plants for the yard and talked to someone else as the guy that came to our house wasnt there. When I talked about the lawn he started talking about Sir Walter lawn and telling me its the same stuff. I didnt think this was right so thought I would ask here and see if someone else who is more in the know would be able to tell me.
It could just be this guy was thinking of a different house and was not taking about ours at all as he had not looked at our file or anything but I wanted to have the info incase I needed to bring it up, next week.

also any info on any work I need to do before hand to make it grow better would be great.

Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: Type of Lawn 2Mar 21, 2008 3:39 pm Hi! Not many people have heard of Empire Zoiysia except a few in the know. Sir Walter Buffalo IS NOT the same grass! It is a very broad leaf that uses around 50% more water than EZ.
They have been recommending it on the Garden Gurus tv show. PM Fu Manchu - he's posted a few times in the Landscape section - he's in Perth and another Zoiysia fan! In the Empire Turf website, the only VIC grower is Lilydale Instant Lawn...but when you go into their website, they do not mention anything about Empire Zoysia or anything similar?? Often a grower may drop a variety of plant (turf) because the costs of using the patented logos (which must be used) might become prohibitive to their business even when it is a good product. or perhapes trading terms between them and the patent owner may no longer be current. The info on the web site may also be out of date. I would imagine there is more than one grower in Vic of Empress or Empire Zoysia.
