Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jun 26, 2014 7:21 pm Hi all, Wondering if someone can tell me what a storm mould is on a window? I am getting quotes to replace my old timber windows (renovating them is a lot more expensive so I have found out) and I have had a few quotes from window companies, none of which have mentioned storm moulds. Then I had a builder quote me and he has included 'storm moulds' in his quote. Then today I received what I hope is now my last quote where the quote actually identifies storm moulds and their inclusion in the quote (they are not included in the cost). Just wondering what are the benefits and do I need them? Many thanks in advance cheers Stacey Re: What is a storm mould on a window and do I need them? 2Jul 04, 2014 1:28 pm staceyb Hi all, Wondering if someone can tell me what a storm mould is on a window? But if it's a light weight construction (blue board or weatherboard), then it may be wise because the window may be flush with the wall... they shouldn't cost much... . I am replacing old timber windows with aluminium - I checked with the company who will more than likely get the go ahead and they said that I didn't need them. So hopefully that will be fine. cheers Re: What is a storm mould on a window and do I need them? 4Jul 07, 2014 8:06 am Just repeating, if it is a weatherboard or light weight wall and the window is flush with the outer wall, then a "Z" flash above the head would be advisable.
