Possibly a bit on the cream side, too much yellow in it. Try with a hint of grey? Looks like I better take a tile with me when I go and choose some carpet. I must say the lighter colour rug has made a huge difference to the room - it looks so elegant. What about an earthy light sand colour for the rug?
We had some great cotton (or were they linen:? ) curtains in our last house that were predominantly off white with a red/green stripe in them. The off white textured cotton would look great in the room. Its not a great pic and ignore the distractions at the front but something like these would look great.
