Hi Manhattan 37 builder, I'm looking to building around the same area, did you find a good building inspector and would you recommend having one? Thanks Re: Building inspector (NSW) - any recommendations? 7Jul 02, 2014 12:48 pm Aitch72 I wouldn't waste your money, the Building Supervisor should be ensuring that all is done correctly.. lol x 2. This forum is chock a block with posts of people who have been let down by site supervisors. SS's allegiance is to the company that employs them, not the client. They will often cut corners and cover up mistakes if they can get away with it. Granted we are all entitled to an opinion, but consider this....our builder built our slab 590mm above approved plans, the council certifier ok'd it. The tradies all turned a blind eye...when we dared to ask questions of the height - how dare we! So now we have a vacant block again after said builder removed to demolish it on Council Order we had too as owners, massive debt and ongoing holding costs after 7 long messy distressing months in Tribunal. Bottom line...these grubs are fed by a bigger grub. A building inspector employed by us would NEVER have allowed the slab to be poured as they work for US - the one and only person who will advocate for you. None of this would have happened and we would have moved in around April as planned. Don't kid yourself for a second that every builder is squeaky clean and honest - ours even fibbed to Police and under oath!! In answer to the OP we used Tyrells and they were great based in Sydney but travel out. I would send it to the certifier who is technically your representative and working on your behalf not the builder's 1 2313 I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45652 I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing. Thorough reports… 2 4607 |
