Was it cost? I'm putting in gas hydronic and refrigerated AC I will at least have the luxury that if the hydronic craps itself I can switch on the ducted system as a backup. Re: Heating Running Cost - Gas Vs. Elecrtic Ducted Systems 10Jun 18, 2014 10:55 pm Wow that's a lot of panels your adding. 12k for the ducted reverse sounds cheap. Wouldn't even consider the gas+evap. Our summers are getting hotter...can't think of anything worse than sitting inside a house that's 30deg Re: Heating Running Cost - Gas Vs. Elecrtic Ducted Systems 11Jun 22, 2014 10:31 am When we lived in Canberra - natural gas was best. I'm told it is not the same with bottles. It seemed "warmer" and didn't "freeze" on cold mornings. Cost may have been similar - but if I could afford it I'd have both - and use the air/con split for summer and the NG heating for winter. BUT - electricity is cheaper in the ACT than some states. Re: Heating Running Cost - Gas Vs. Elecrtic Ducted Systems 14Jan 19, 2022 10:01 am I have read that Gas heating works out cheaper than RC heating Gas costs around $0.017/MJ, while electricity is roughly $0.069/MJ ($0.25/kWh). If you go with a 6-star-rated gas heater, you're paying roughly ~$0.019/MJ for the actual heat at 90% efficiency (http://www.elgas.com.au/blog/449-star-ratings-for-gas-heaters-gas-wall-furnaces-a-gas-fireplaces) The RC efficiency, however, is around ~3-4x the energy input assuming 20c ambient temp outside, so you're really paying ~$0.17 - $0.023/MJ for the heat. but could be paying $0.07/MJ in winter night (even if you had invested in clean Solar) So all things equal, the costs are roughly comparable today unless you live in temperate climate cities. What the future will bring is anyone's guess, but of course it's easier to produce some of your own electricity & use batteries than using gas with emissions footprint:) Personally I had to choose to go with 6 start Braemar Heater with extra air version with $2k spent on ducting upgrade so I could add a refrigerated Add-on cooling to same ducting for hotter days (thanks to humankind for Global warming ) 2 6248 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20324 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house. Does this placement sound reasonable to you? Also, I plan to have 6 zones I think. Living room… 0 0 |
