Making really good progress, and should have a slab this week, hopefully Thursday. The wet weather last Monday slowed them down a little, but they have made really good time in general. The slab is all boxed up, styrofoam is in place and the reo also in place. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The obligatory tap photo. This cracks me up. It is a hose that comes from the water meter up bear the road and runs about 100m up to bear the house, with a tap connected to the end of the hose. It's pretty funny! It is certainly looking massive at the moment. It will be interesting when the slab gets poured, as everyone says how small the slab looks. I'll have to contact the builder tomorrow to find our when we can expect the slab, so we can slip out then to get some slab pouring photos. It's crankin' along. Yeah the formwork does look big but the slab still looks small right up until the plaster goes on. A slab! Got a phone call early Friday morning to say it was being poured if we wanted to come for a look! We were going away for the weekend but were able to go via the block on our way out of town. Though I think they still wanted at least another 2 trucks worth of cement. Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Earth Works Star 75Jun 15, 2014 6:05 pm It was tough to then leave to go away. We could have stayed to watch it all if we could! As soon as we got home today, we braved the cold (brrrrrr) to check the finished product. Very pleased indeed. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Last one, the worksite is always immaculate. Everything is packed away and stacked really tidily. I hope this continues once the subbies get on site. We are really pleased of the progress so far. Just less than 3 weeks from site start to slab pour. They will now leave the slab for a week to cure, with frames due to start after that, next week. Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Earth Works Star 77Jun 16, 2014 8:08 pm Look at that! Lovely I would have loved to watch ours get poured, but since it was a surprise slab, it didn't happen! Haha Bring on the frame stage!! I think the boxing was taken off yesterday, and now it will sit for a few days, or week or so. Bl**dy Telstra. How hard is it to get a simple answer of getting cable from the street to the house. We aren't in a NBN area, so will have regular ADSL. I ring them, and they say the builder has to arrange it. THe builder calls, and they say it up to the client. GRRRR. I am so close to tell them where to put their phone connection. If I could find out if it will be about the same cost now, or later, I would wait til later, when we would be sure if we wanted it connected. Oh well, life isn't meant to be simple. Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Slabbed (Week 3) 79Jun 17, 2014 5:20 pm It looks fantastic and HUGE! Can't wait to see your frames going up! Ah don't get me started on Telstra lol Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Slabbed (Week 3) 80Jul 06, 2014 11:08 am Well it's been a few weeks since I posted. The slab was left for a week, and nothing happened at all on site. The beginning of week 5 saw the trench being dug to bring services (elect & water and should be phone grr). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Approx 120m of trench. They will leave most of this trench open and hopefully we can get an answer from Telstra. Towards the end of the week (now nearly 2 weeks) we saw the delivery of the frames! Other than that not much had happened on site, until DH went out on Wednesday!
