Im glad to see that its still useful now to those in Melbourne We have been in our home for about 2.5 years now - it was a long, tiring, stressful journey. Its not completely over yet, but thats mainly due to my cabinet making husband continually telling me that I dont pay him to do work on our house But they're small things like minor bedroom wardrobe and linen cupboard fitouts. I pestered him this morning about it actually Good luck with your build everyone! Ill try and update the original post with the tradesman we were happy with later tonight - Im sure theres a few I might not have put up yet Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Edit: There is now: Tradie recommendations Sydney Re: OB tradie recommendations Melbourne 65May 25, 2016 9:24 pm Hi guys, Just wrapping up my owner build. Took me 18months, but very happy with the end result. It has been an epic journey. Thought I would help out my trades who helped me out, by referring them on to the forum. All the guys I got were basically small operators, who did the majority of the work themselves, rather than run apprentices through my site. Here goes: Michael Davis – Plumber. The lynchpin to this operation, he gave me all his trade contacts, so I knew that I was getting quality work. Was always happy to give advice and was a great circuit breaker when the stress got too much. Champion bloke. http://southeasternplumbing.net.au/ Andrew Goland – Electrician. Referred by Michael Davis. Uber professional guy, and makes a point of calling you back and keeping great communication. Quality of work was top notch, and was more than happy to work with an owner builder. http://golandelectrical.com.au/ Matt Pancari – Framer. Top bloke, and stick built my attic roof for only $300! Fearless on the top plates too. Was more than happy to help me out on site and make recommendations, and the frame was great. mattpancari@gmail.com Ben Eichner – Brickie. Despite being a Richmond diehard, he’s great value. No job too hard. All the other brickies were complaining when they came out to site, but Ben said No problem. Did a great job on my blended bricks and flush joints and was super flexible, working in with my schedule. Took great pride in his work. Referred by Matt Pancari. benthebricky@live.com.au Paul Oliveira – Render. Referred by Michael Davis. Good, honest Portuguese bloke, who loves Nandos chicken. Again, takes pride in his work, and looks after his team, so they look after him. renderco@hotmail.com Paul Zampichelli – Jaydee Steel. Prompt, punctual and happy to help out. paulz@jaydeesteel.com.au Glen Pilon – Roof gutters. gm.roofing@bigpond.com Andrew Bryan – Waterproofer mbr09416@bigpond.net.au Peter Saris – Tiler constructtiling@hotmail.com Springvale Kitchens http://www.springvalekitchencentre.com.au/ Glen Clark Solar glen@glenclarkco.com.au Tony Church – Plaster contemporaryplaster@bigpond.com Petro Mavroidakos – Concrete mavros28@bigpond.com EzyAir for split systems Coldflow for evap I ran out of puff at the end, getting sick of saying they are a top bloke! But really, all the guys I used were top blokes, and I certainly recommend them. Thanks David Re: OB tradie recommendations Melbourne 66May 26, 2016 8:03 am Does anyone have tradie recommendations for either the northwestern suburbs or Macedon ranges? We'll be building on acreage with no town water, gas, or sewage, with a long mains power run and large solar install. Would be good for the electrician and plumber to have experience dealing with this stuff. Thanks Re: OB tradie recommendations Melbourne 67Jul 14, 2016 2:21 pm can anyone please urgently reccomend a plumber for a small job in northern suburbs of melbourne. we need to have our sweage capped as we and in the process of building a new house and have just knocked down. thanks Re: OB tradie recommendations Melbourne 69Feb 28, 2017 8:15 pm I figured as I asked for recommendations a while back, I'd give some of my own. We're still trying to find a concreter (I've made another post about that), but we've had great work done so far from our excavator and drainage guy working on our waste treatment plant. Damien Forrest- Forrests Earth Works (damien@forrestsearthworks.com.au) Daniel Alford- Alford Drainage (alforddrainage@bigpond.com) If anyone else can recommend a good concreter in the west or northwest of Melbourne let me know. Re: OB tradie recommendations Melbourne 71Apr 02, 2018 8:15 pm thinkpanther Does anyone have recommendations on PM's? I am interested in exploring the owner-builder option but need a good PM to do a lot of the heavy lifting... Firstly, thanks to the OP for this thread - has been most helpful to have a list of trades that have proven to deliver the goods! In regards to PM's we were looking at doing something similar a few months back and reached out to a few places to assist with our project. Some didn't even bother getting back to us where others spent time to discuss the project and really understand what we wanted to achieve. We didn't get into the real nitty-gritty of fee structures and what-not as we ultimately made the decision to go down the owner builder path, however we were left with positive impressions from both of these firms. Hopefully you find similar if you go down this path. The two places were Marino Construction (http://marinoconstruction.com.au) and Project Edge (http://www.projectedge.melbourne). FWIW we also tried to negotiate a Construction Management type arrangement with a builder which was a little painful and ended up getting us nowhere.. Unless there were unforeseeable issues with the site, I dont think you should have to pay for contractors errors or poor planning. I'd probably try and be reasonable and… 5 5552 Hello, we can help you please get in contact 0421019219 thank you 3 32846 Yes, I was happy with the work, bar a few small things. Overall, communication could have been better though. However, I found them reliable and did good work at a… 4 63363 |
