Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 8Jun 06, 2014 11:08 pm Thanks for the recommendation for the building inspector, I had just starting thinking about how I was going to find a good one. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 10Jun 07, 2014 9:00 pm Your plan looks really good, if I could offer a suggestion it would be to change to door on bed 3 so it goes out into the games room and not to where the toilet is. Also a door on the games going into the living room. Best of luck. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 11Jun 07, 2014 9:09 pm Thanks for the suggestions bytheseaside. Every time we go up to the display home my hubby hates that bed 3 opens up to the bathroom/toilet area. Will definitely run this idea past him. Not sure if we are allowed to make structural changes at this stage without a fee but I know it bugs my husband so if he is really keen on the idea it might be worth the fee! Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 12Jun 09, 2014 10:31 am I grew up in Bull Creek and my parents still live there so very fond of the area. Your plan looks great. Can I ask was the demo costs reasonable and was there asbestos? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 13Jun 09, 2014 4:30 pm Hi tanyaw, Congrats on the build! My husband and I are living in my parents brand new Dale Alcock pad in Willetton (they built the Stoneleigh) while we are building. They bulldozed the existing home which I grew up in and rebuilt on the same block. My Mum loves the new house! They upgraded quite a few things inc a cavity slider door into their larder, which is nice for a seamless look. Your plan looks great! Haha navs...it's a small area, I bet I know you. Your plan looks great. Can I ask was the demo costs reasonable and was there asbestos? We love Bull Creek, have been living in the suburb for over 10 years now. The demo was quoted at $14200, haven't received the invoice yet so I hope they didn't run into any problems that changed the price. We had an old free standing garage which was constructed from asbestos. The removal of this was included in the quoted price. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 15Jun 10, 2014 10:36 am Haha or someone that knew someone if not a direct connection I'm sure Justy. Wow that seems quite reasonable, Dale Alcock charged us $7k just to remove asbestos fencing for our current build. Definitely think we should've got that quoted independently in hindsight. All the best with your building, I'm sure it will be a lovely house an a lovely area. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 16Jun 17, 2014 10:08 pm I have prestart tomorrow, super excited about making all the selections. Really hope I can keep to my budget. I know the floor tiles that I love but I suspect they are going to be way to pricey. I did my electrical and smart wiring last week. Came back at about $10,000 for the electrics and $5000 for the smart wiring. Is this a reasonable amount? I didn't feel like I went too crazy, main cost was upgrading the living areas to LED down lights. I am still thinking I might add a few extra power points tomorrow. Everyone seems to always say make sure you add enough power points! Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 17Jun 17, 2014 10:58 pm Love the laundry, larder, garage and kitchen area. We would have loved to have incorporated this into our design. To save a bit on the floor tiles, consider doing them after hand over. We're lucky with an electrician in the family our budget for electrical and smart wiring was a bit less. I guess if we put in everything we wanted we would have got close to your spend. The fans and extras really add up quick. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 18Jun 17, 2014 11:34 pm Quote: To save a bit on the floor tiles, consider doing them after hand over. I have thought about this but I have heard that the big tiles can have a variety of issues if not laid correctly and I figured if we get Dales to do it we will be covered by our maintenance period. After talking about using tiles for the last 12 months we are now sitting here, the night before prestart wondering if we should do timber. Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 19Jun 18, 2014 12:02 am You can always ask for them to price them at pre start and make a decision in the coming weeks. We changed our mind on some items twice after prestart. There were some things we really wanted but just couldn't justify the costs (I.e supplying our own kitchen appliances). Re: Building with Dale Alcock SOR 20Jun 18, 2014 10:38 am We spent about $7k on electrics but our house is a lot smaller than yours, just lots of power points and down lights, now that we've done PCI I'm wondering if I went just that little bit overboard especially with outside lights as we lit up areas we won't be using. But better to have more than less I figure. We had $4k worth of smart wiring included but we spent a bit more, probably $5k as well I think. When we built they had a 4 for no more package which included smart wiring, floor coverings, air con and painting which they said was worth $20k in total and that's all we would've been credited back so we decided to stick with it as it seemed to be value for money. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me.
