Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 7Jun 01, 2014 7:17 pm Anubiz I would absolutely love to know how the people who already have their framework up got so far ahead. I noticed they got council approval last year when I looked.. strange. I'm assuming it's someone that works at Fairmont pulling strings. We actually had no problems with Direct Interiors... except limitations. Can only upgrade so many things before the price rise goes crazy. Anything we can upgrade later we will instead of paying over inflated upgrade prices. We had to refinance because it took too long to start the build. Start all again from scratch... joy. We have spoken to Bianca mostly, she has been helpful... well... very nice anyway. Obviously nothing has happened so not THAT helpful. Did you change the bathroom to a three-way instead? EDIT: Actually Direct Interiors did call us saying they made a mistake and tried to charge us more. We argued back and they gave up trying to charge us for it in the end. Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 9Jun 01, 2014 9:39 pm Yeah changed the bathroom to a 3 way, it was the first change we made and like you I have also change the lounge in to a home theatre. I was the main thing I personally wanted. One of the main things that we were warned about were upgrades at selections and how quickly the price raises, luckily we didn’t go to over the top. Did you do your flooring through direct or are you doing it separate. I love your plans is that a complete custom. Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 10Jun 01, 2014 9:50 pm Good decisions. Done the same thing as you can see. Only done the tiling to the wet areas, as they have to for lockup. My wife is an interior designer at an architecture company so will be getting as much as we can after lockup at a pretty big discount. Plans are completely custom, but mostly pulled from house plans from different companies. Have you looked at how much it will be for soil removal yet? Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 11Jun 04, 2014 5:35 pm Sounds like a good plan, we looked into having the flooring done after hand over but we're getting married in January and we just didn't want to deal with it then and its one less thing to deal with then. Nar haven’t looked into soil removal yet, but its one of the next things on my list, did you end up calling Fairmont for an update? Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 12Jun 04, 2014 5:45 pm Congrats! Fairly newly married myself, about 16 months in now. Fairmont received final paperwork from council, now they need something else from us. Might have a slab in 4-6 weeks. Won't hold my breath though but at least it's a timeframe. Any news from your end? Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 13Jun 04, 2014 11:00 pm Also building with Fairmont (@ Ingle Farm) Got my unconditional financial approval today, which was the last piece of the puzzle. So hopefully that means, my build will be programmed and I will have a slap in 3 - 6 weeks. Still think my build won't be complete till after Christmas though. feroshious Have you looked at how much it will be for soil removal yet? I fear this answer as I think I read Fairmont charge $1100 per truck load.. Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 14Jun 07, 2014 8:52 pm No news still waiting, though we're also hoping to have the slab down in 4-6 weeks. All our approvals from both the council and bank are done, so Fairmont are just waiting for the final letter from the bank and then we should have our official start date.
I'm also thinking we are looking at January, I can just see them giving us the handover date of our wedding day. We can cart and dump this clean fill at $17.50 /T + GST. We can cart and dump vegetation for $42.00 /T + GST. They have estimated I will have between 130- 180 Tonne to be removed Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 18Jun 30, 2014 2:34 pm Looks like both of our blocks are the last on our side. At least they have called you and given a date somewhat. I have not heard a word from them. Well they did call me once asking for more money... other than that absolutely no customer service at all. If you call them up no-one takes any responsibility for anything, just pass if off to the next person, and the next. Seems highly unprofessional to allow people who signed up a year later, on a later stage, to skip ahead of those who have been waiting 18 months for something to happen. Pretty angry at them right now. Will definitely be inspecting every little thing once the house gets going, after 2+ years it better be damn well perfect. Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 19Jul 02, 2014 10:05 am Did your roof tiles get cancelled? Looks like they are not using Nova anymore and going with a Boral product. Not very shiny... Re: Building with Fairmont Homes / RealtySA @ Woodcroft Hori 20Jul 02, 2014 6:57 pm That sucks, I know what you mean, there should be no reason that people from stage 3 are so far ahead of us, it's so frustrating to see so many houses with frame work up and still only have an empty block. We're still waiting for the guy who cuts out the blocks to get back to us, so hopefully the weather clears up a bit. We went with colour bond so no roof tile problems. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74702 I would never build with Fowler homes.
