We ended up sleeping in a bit longer than intended and arrived around 7:30am. Turns out that was pretty good timing as we were probably about 12th in line so not too bad at all. After that the masses arrived and by the time the doors opened the line was down the street and around the corner out of site! We were really not prepared for just HOW prepared the people in front of us were though. Between the time they walked in to 30seconds later when we did ALL the beds had been stripped people were walking out off all rooms carrying all the furniture they wanted - it was MADNESS! I would say within 5 minutes everything was gone! Some great prices and stuff but luckily we weren't too fussed this time as the house was styled in a sort of country rustic theme which isn't what we're going for. But I am so glad we went, such a great practice for the next one and now we know just how brutal we have to be! Really great opportunity for people to grab a bargain but I would definitely recommend going with a few people on your 'team' so you can hit multiple rooms at once...otherwise you have no chance! Oh and zero chance of me videoing what happened...there was so many ppl in there you could barely move let alone lift your arm up to film them! lol Re: Dee & Dan's First Home Build - HGWA - ROOF FRAME!! 188Jun 01, 2014 5:12 pm That is insane! I want to go to one - you really have to case out the house prior so you know what rooms to run to haha. If you don't mind a big crowd then definitely give it a go belzey I am with 2 cupcakes. Think I would rather pay full price at a shop lol I would probably end up in a fist fight hahahaha! Haha belzey & cupcakes that's so funny! It was pretty fun to watch it unfold...some people brought their kids and used them to sit on their pile of goodies as they went hunting for more to make sure no one took their stash! lol Re: Dee & Dan's First Home Build - HGWA - ROOF FRAME!! 193Jun 01, 2014 11:46 pm Sounds like you had fun and the antics of others didn't disappoint!! Re: Dee & Dan's First Home Build - HGWA - ROOF FRAME!! 195Jun 06, 2014 5:15 pm V1SHRNZ Did you manage to pick up anything Dee? We didnt end up getting anything..there were some nice decorative knick knacks but for now we are focussing on the big items for the house before choosing all the little bits and pieces. Going shopping this weekend for furniture - so excited! Re: Dee & Dan's First Home Build - HGWA - ROOF FRAME!! 196Jun 06, 2014 5:24 pm Good job, enjoy your furniture shopping. Just so I can enable you some more ... here's a website I stalk ... they send out a daily email with the new sales that come up. Some of it is pricey, some not so. But you have to be quick, no indecision as stuff can sell out in literally minutes. But they play fair, you get a heads up on what is coming up in the next fortnight so you can plan ahead! You do have to register but it is definitely worth it! http://www.templeandwebster.com.au/ Re: Dee & Dan's First Home Build - HGWA - ROOF FRAME!! 197Jun 08, 2014 11:44 am Marcia Good job, enjoy your furniture shopping. Furniture shopping is hard work...but im so excited we finally picked our lounge and bed and are tossing up 2 options for our dining table - I never knew it could be so hard to find a nice square table! Will post pics soon so I can get some opinions Re: Dee & Dan's First Home Build - HGWA - ROOF FRAME!! 198Jun 08, 2014 11:49 am I think square tables have come and gone ... We bought one about five years ago and they were everywhere. Now it looks like rectangular is back in. Good to hear you're starting to cross off the furniture list, it's so hard to come up with things when you only have paper plans to work with! Re: Dee & Dan's First Home Build - HGWA - ROOF FRAME!! 199Jun 09, 2014 6:51 pm Yes square tables are definitely not the favourite now! We need a sqaure table for our space though which is making it really hard. Oh well..more shopping for us Re: Dee & Dan's First Home Build - HGWA - ROOF FRAME!! 200Jun 10, 2014 2:41 am It's great to see it all coming togther Dee Don't know why but I haven't been getting any notifications through about threads lately so have missed all this commotion about the sale, sounds like bedlam best not let ht OH know about these otherwise I'll be dragged out no doubt With a bit of luck you'll get the roof on before too much of the heavy rain comes and you won't get held up. have you used any of the motorised curtain systems available from Ebay?
