Sorry!!! If you want to know colour prices, I can definitely help! We tried to look everywhere for 8home extra prices but no one has posted any up. So, we kind of went in blind but it was good. We also got the bigger upgrades like porcelain tiles and refrigerated cooling. Definitely an OUCH to our pockets. Re: building with 8homes. 12May 21, 2014 1:04 pm Hi, yes we are building with Eight homes. My advise is strict to your guns, ask for what you want and be very proactive. We have finally just started the build through no fault of eight homes. So will keep you posted if you like. Words of advise; you can change the boards and without paying $750 colour fee as you can visit colour hub on saturdays , you may need to make let them know you are coming in and you won't get to sit down or much help as the consultants are busy with appointments you may have to wait for answers like upgrade pricing etc, or take notes and ask later. I recommend this method if you like most of a board and only want to change one or 2 things. You can visit suppliers displays or web sites for ideas and the colourbond and boral brick and monier websites have excellent visualiser on their websites to help with colour selections as does Dulux , but watch printer and displays colours they can be miles off. Next we have stuck by Eight Homes and they have been patient with us , but I have to say you have to be willing to not give in on any issues and fight for what you want.. if they don't answer your emails, phone and email again and again til you get answers. I don't think they are avoiding issues just that the staff have a lot of customers to service and they are often waiting on others to provide them with the information they need to get back to you, a lot of their processes seem disjointed to me but clearly they work for Eight Homes; you just have to be persistent and patient. If you change something in the plans or colour docs etc, make sure they have changed it correctly and watch for other stuff being changed that you didn't ask for.. in other words double / triple check everything. Lastly develop some patient and diplomacy skills as you are going to need both- I have neither and at times have been a real ball breaker but having built before we know what to expect.. after all it's your money. Lastly after reading a few reviews on Product review we are hiring our own building inspector.. cost about $1500 for 3 inspections..pre slab, pre plaster , pre handover.. I realise that only a very small % of the houses Eight homes build end up reviewed here but it seems a wise thing to do.. they know what to look for and I not being a builder don't. Which Eight Homes are you building? and where? We are building the 3.1 with a new facade which cost us an extra $5K - happy to keep you posted if you like but don't do blogs - wouldn't know where to start. As for 88 day build time.. check your contract it states a much longer time. The 88 days are working days and so do not include weekends or PH and then there are an extra 18 days for inclement weather and more time if the build is stopped. Ask what current build times are -88 days sounds like less than 3 months.. but I think it is more like 5 months. Lastly Have we regretted going with Eight Homes..? I have to say that eight homes represent great value for money but people need to remember that comes at a price - you can only make cosmetic changes to the houses. At times I think - what have we done, at times I feel like asking questions is throwned upon or that I am being difficult .. at times Eight Homes have been great... at other times like most mass home spec builders difficult to deal with and even harder to get answers and solutions. ...only time will tell. For now we are feeling positive about the build and that's a good feeling. So for long reply trying to help, reply if you have other questions. Re: building with 8homes. 13Jun 01, 2014 9:43 pm Hi! We are building the 3.1 in mernda. We have out contract signing on June 4th but won't start build until Oct. So far we have had a great experience with them and it has been refreshing to have answers upfront. We have gone with the colour boards I prefer less choice! I'm looking fwd to signing the contract and having it done. Upgrades we have added are to extend the kitchen bench, evap cooling, internal garage door, the timber look laminate in the whole living area not half carpet. The alfresco. I love the layout it will be perfect for us. Would love to be kept up to date with everyone's experiences!! Thanks Kate Re: building with 8homes. 14Jun 02, 2014 9:02 am arnoldsabode Hi! I pre made a checklist with all documents they gave us and properly went over the contract, they did forget to price a few things and we got them to price it on the spot. As well as different pricing than what's on the sales quotation but they we're able to honour it! Phew! If you have any questions, I'm happy to help! I hope it goes smoothly for you! i'm fairly happy with colours, 8homes recently got new colour boards so I have pick from their old and new. they have also been great at getting back to me with any issue I've had. I have thought about getting a building inspector, let me know how yours goes! we are building the s.five we kept the standard façade with part render. and are building in Chirnside park at the cloverlea estate. Yes I read that on the contract that was sent to me. I did think 88 days was rather quick! yes I agree eight homes are good value for money. the cosmetic changes didn't phase me because I do like their floorplans but yea the electrical appointment and the colour appointment fee was a bummer. goodluck with you build look forward to hearing from you soon! Nice! I love the s.eight, to big for our land though /quote] Hi Holliemc, We are building with 8homes and we are also in Cloverlea Estate stage 2B... such a long wait as we purchased our block of land in April 2013. Cloverlea seem to be very uninformative of what is going on with titles which gets frustrating at times, but it is by far the best located estate around; If you don't already know Cloverlea is being developed by CSR (the sugar company) and I believe it is their first time developing in Victoria which has partly been the reason as to some of the delays, although the Cloverlea folk won't tell you that. Currently Cloverlea are waiting to receive approval permits from the local council to start on Stage 2... which should concern all of us as they should've had these approvals prior to finishing Stage 1, but once again it comes back to their lack of knowledge of developing in Victoria; Good news is that CSR is a very big company and well will go under but enough about Cloverlea... The 8homes ride has been very much a roller coaster, as it is our first build also, we expected a certain level of customer service and excitement when it came to spending a lot of money, but after a word with management and 8homes getting their act together we've managed to have settled on a contract with them, we are building the S7.1 (which has had a name change to S4.1) with the E62 Facade and we did the color appointment also and changed a heap of things, redesigned the ensuite, put in the gas fireplace, ran with bamboo floor boards... all in all the upgrades were a lot cheaper than we thought they were going to be. We can't wait to build but we will visit the site very often whilst they are building just to keep an eye on things as we've already had a lot of communication issues with them. Considering getting an independent builder to look over the finished product too. I spoke to Rochelle a few weeks ago and she said if we have a really wet winter than most likely will be delayed to 1st quarter next year, and that all of stage 2 will all title at the same time, A third party wanted to title some parts earlier because the blocks needed less engineering. Seems they tell everyone something different though. my best guess is feb/march next year. but I'm hopeful its earlier! yes I agree best location, and will be beautiful once complete! That's a bit worrying about the permits, they were meant to be sent of the same time that they sent of stage 1's. My sales consultant was great and very helpful, its a shame that they gave you such bad customer service. where was yours sales located? I'm worried about the contract signing appointment though because I'm wanting to change a few things, But surely that won't be a problem. nice I love that floorplan! did you upgrade the ceiling height? we have upgraded ours to 2740, i'm just a bit worried that it will look funny because we havn't made the windows bigger and am considering getting brick infill above windows, there will be a lot of cement sheeting because of the higher ceiling. I think its a very good idea to get an independent builder to inspect each stage! Re: building with 8homes. 20Jun 02, 2014 8:35 pm Holliemc RoseN arnoldsabode Hi! We are building the 3.1 in mernda. Thank you! 8homes made it very clear that at the contract appointment would be the last chance you can change anything. They give you the contract, drafted floor plans and post contract variation. We had no issues changing anything. The only real disappointment was that they messed up our floor plan (Lots of white out had been used and was fixable), some of the upgrade pricing (which they've honoured) and telling at last minute that they couldn't do a particular upgrade when they knew a while ago. Good luck with your appointment! I'd love to hear how it goes! Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess.
