Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Finance Approved 42May 16, 2014 10:48 am It's been awhile since an update, but we are still waiting. Today is 2 weeks since we went into council. We have been advised this is expected to come out next Friday!!! Our builder has booked the earthworks to start on the following Monday, so is very keen to get underway. Our shed has been approved, as has our septic system, so things are coming through slowly. We are meeting with the kitchen guy at lunch today to finalise the selections for the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms. We will also get another copy of the kitchen plans, so hope to post these a little later this afternoon, along with our colours. I must say the waiting bit is hard, with not much for us to do, but its good to know it won't be for long. Hoping to see the house pegged out in the next couple of days. Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Finance Approved 43May 16, 2014 9:43 pm Wow big congrats 2-3 weeks in council is pretty good. Great news re the shed and septic - what sort of shed and septic are you doing? We have to have mounded septic outflow apparently - but going to see what council says. Exciting about the kitchen too, look forward to seeing the plans Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Finance Approved 44May 20, 2014 4:46 pm Now following with keen anticipation. Exciting about the kitchen too, look forward to seeing the plans BB, nothing terribly exciting with the shed. It's just going to be double garage size with 2 roller doors and a carport awning (probably to store wood) off the side. Don't really know what the septic is. What types are there? I might have to check the paperwork. Anyway we are now all approved and ready to go! Everything is now finalised. The builder is ready to starting Monday and has the earthmovers all booked to go. Nothing has been pegged out yet but told they would do a rough scrape then get more detailed after that. This is now starting to get exciting. I must take some photos of kitchen plans as well as the final plans and upload. Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Finance Approved 48May 23, 2014 8:54 pm cat_dunc I'm following too. I love your block and your house plan. I'm a little jealous but will live vicariously through you Thanks cat_dunc. I've been following your thread quietly, I'll have to come in and say hello. Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Finance Approved 49May 24, 2014 12:27 am Oh yay! It's so exciting when things finally start moving. You won't have our issue of starting a month before Christmas and having to wait for it to restart again, should be a whirlwind from now. Our covenant is specific as to ours having a bund/mound system rather than spray, but we are going to see if we can go spray instead. Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Finance Approved 52May 24, 2014 7:48 pm Looks like we may be heading Sydney over the school holidays and will get a chance to go light shopping! Any suggestion of where to go? We will be on north side, around marsfield area. Even a suggestion of light stores worth looking at. We are thinking beacon lighting, where else? We aren't doing any down lights so after pendants, oysters, fans etc. Any advice gratefully received. Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Finance Approved 53May 24, 2014 11:04 pm I'm not really familiar with that side of Sydney, but it sounds like fun going light shopping Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Custom Design on 5 Acres Northern NSW - Finance Approved 54May 26, 2014 10:28 am So earth works should be starting today. I am so excited. I will probably have to go for a drive at lunch time to see if anything has happened. It is a beautiful day here today, and supposed to be good for the rest of the week. Timeframe hasn't been too bad. Decided to purchase block about 12 months ago. Signed contracts in July. Spent about 6 months playing with our design to get it how we wanted it. Had initial meeting with builder just prior to Christmas, but this was more of a 'what is the process'. Had first real meeting with builder in early Feb, block settled late Feb, and we are on site at end of May. Never were we really thinking this is taking too long. Hope to maybe get a photo or 2 at lunch, we will see. Earthworks started. It's really hard to get photos that show perspective I've found. Our builder contacted us to go out to have a look and have a chat about how we want the cut bit to be. Straight, or smoothed out. We chose smoothed, so we can just have a gentle slope rather than needing to retain. Yay. Anyway, some photos.....
