This looks like a great program... pity I didn't find it before I went to the trouble of learning Google Sketchup. Re: 3D drawing from a 2D plan 9May 10, 2014 5:17 pm Yep sweethome is very easy to use and allows to give shadow and 3d picks at different times of the day. There are a few things you have to consider when you have split levels but it really helped me visualise what my house will be like. Re: 3D drawing from a 2D plan 10May 10, 2014 10:04 pm How do you do a second storey on these? I've tried but can only seem to do single storey even tho I can add stairs? For stairs i use the misc box and shape the size of the steps, which is usually 172mm high and prob 250 deep and how ever side your stairs are. then for the next step copy last on and raise the starting high by the height of the previous step and so on. To draw fast if you are using double brick make the outside walls 250 thick and you can save time by using the split wall function. If you highlight all walls you can right click and modify all at once. Its very cool. oh yes and when it comes to colours you can type in the various colour numbers off the chits and see what different renders look like. Have fun..... I am living overseas but building in Australia so the common ground to establish some sort of mechanism was needed to describe what I wanted. I also needed to visualise what the finished product would look like. The Home Designer Pro looks amazing and I wish I had time to learn something like that. I was able to improvise quite a bit to get stairs and split levels etc, but it does take a long time to get it right. Re: 3D drawing from a 2D plan 14May 11, 2014 6:56 pm I am oversea as well. So it's a good idea to learn a few more things to make things clear. I do wait till I am back to Aus before starting the build thou. But for the whole design process, it's email, email and email. i thought the flipped plan initially but bec i want narrow pathway from entry to dining (dont like bend), also cannot fit the… 7 17286 5 10493 Hi, Seeking volume or semi-custom builder in victoria(east), which have existing double story wide floor plans.
