Still $160 per switch by builder is really on a very high side. That's one of the reasons I didn't go with a package builder. My builder was very flexible and happy for me to organise things like the kitchen, garage door, lights and flooring without any markup. I could also do my own data cabling as I have my registration. With the more difficult builders we have been able to gain access on a weekend just before insulation is due to go in. As for wiring, the electrical wiring will be different depending on the type of lighting automation you go with, you will also need speaker wire and lots of Cat5/6 installed around the place.
